how do you play itunes 30 sec clips continously?

how do you play the 30 second clips from an album that you're looking at continuously instead of having to press play every single time the previous clip ended?

That would fit in nicely with my suggestion that he learn about the COM interface 😉

How's Davenport? Cold, chance of snow...
Gonna go roast a nice fresh batch of coffee to enjoy once the stuff starts falling. Have a good one!

edit: Guy, I'm glad someone can use coordinates properly. Great job 😉

Otto42 has a multi-script utility that will do many things, unfortunately not what you want just now.

See here for individual functions: http://ottodestruct.com/blog/2005/10/20/itunes-javascripts/

Or get his 'QuickScripts.zip' multi-script utility: http://ottodestruct.com/blog/category/geekery/programmery/

PS Google Earth is a wonderful thing. Just waiting for an HTML interface so i can put links to it rather than cut-n-paste Lat/long.

You roast your own ! respect.

I heartily endores Otto's scripts. Not one complaint has come from using them.

...yes, I do. Used to get paid for it years ago, now it's a fun hobby. Unfortunately, in these parts it is often too cold to do it outside, and the smoke really fills an apartment quickly. But that's OK. It's still relaxing and very satisfying. Whoops, I think we've fallen into that part of the terms of use that covers 1973 Midget restorations 😉

relief/imitation/flattery.

shame/embarrased/darn i should have made it clear it was a quote. Apols.

been trying to help friends with iTunes who are hobbled by the lack of dougitunes style sites. have found individual scripts here and there and this was the first with a real collection for XP.

have posted to 2 or 3 places in this forum.

I take it you know of no way to integrate script access within iTunes as AS can be ?

Maybe I should explain more so you guys know why this is so important to me. If I'm undecided on buying a song, I put its 30 second clip into a temporary playlist (wishlist). I have hundreds of songs in this playlist at any time. Then when I'm lounging around, clearning, doing whatever, I like to listen to this playlist and see if any songs jump out at me. Obviously, it's pretty difficult since I have to come back to the computer every half-minute to start the next song. I sure would like it if it would just play through. I don't know much about 'com' scripting so whatever solution there is would have to be pretty basic.

thanks,
chris

Some of that lounging time could be perfect to pick up a new skill. Then you can really control iTunes the way you want it. As you have found, and three of us have said, right now there is not a way to do this. If it can be done in Apple Script (of MAcintosh iTunes), it can likely be done in COM (Windows iTunes).

As you are the one who wants it, now would be a good time to figure out how to do it. 😉

No need. The 'smiley' should have tipped you off.

"Good writers borrow lines from others. Great writers just steal them outright."

No. I just use Otto's stuff. I haven't gotten into script writing or knowledge at all. No time with all the rest... I used to do a bit of coding, then managed folks who dabbled in various coding. Now I am a bit removed from all that.

exactly, 30 second clips from the music store. And no, it does not play through them. it stops, like a bad itunes player! 😟

so yeah, I'm still holding out hope that someone who's written this code or has the secret spell comes across this thread. trust me, the time it would take me to learn to code and actually script something like this would be longer than if I spent the next 1000 hours straight searching the internet for an answer.

yes, itunes streams them. You can create playlists in your itunes libraries for 30 second previews. The songs don't have to be purchased. Just drag a preview into your playlist like you would a song and it's there. Then you press play. Obviously you have to be online for it to work (which I always am). The problem is that 30 second previews only act like real songs to a certain point. They do not continue to play after one is finished. Hence, my problem.
