Hi all,
After finding this post via google, because I was searching for an answer as to what the differences may be, if any, between @me.com and icloud.com, I would just like to add to this forum (for clarification) that in my case I bought an Ipad 3 about 3 months ago whereby I created an Apple ID for it with my personal e-mail address; because at the time I did not have an @me.com e-mail address. Once this was done, a few days later I was doing something whereby I was then asked to create an @me.com e-mail address. This in turn created an @me.com e-mail account with the Mail app.
Shortly after that I logged into www.icloud.com using my Apple ID (using my personal e-mail address) as I wanted to manually insert some contacts and calendar details into their respective online apps (as opposed to using the respective apps on my iPad). I found it quicker and easier to use www.icloud.com.
Anyway. After reading this post (now 3 months later) I have just logged into the apple id website and found that I have my personal e-mail address listed as my Primary e-mail address for my apple id. And that my @me.com e-mail address is listed as one of my alternative e-mail addresses. Furthermore, apple have since, automatically, created an @icloud.com e-mail address for me with the same username as my @me.com e-mail address. This means I can now log into www.icloud.com for example with any of these three e-mail addresses. Meaning my @me.com, @icloud.com and @personal_email_address.com e-mail addresses all allow me access to my apple stuff (as stated on the apple website).
Just thought I would clarify that @me.com and @icloud.com e-mail addresses do both work (i.e. you can use whichever you like) with the Mail app and the iCloud website for example. And with synchronisation of course.
