How to make pictures open in full screen view

When I am in finder and viewing pictures, they all open in an almost minimized view, I can strech or maximize it manually but not automatically. How do i set it to open in full screen every time?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Hello,

I think this should be the solution:

In the folder where you have your photos in Finder click "Cmd-A" (To select all) then click "Space-bar" and your will now be able to cycle through all of the photos in that folder as normally with your arrow keys.

AND, if you want to acces full screen mode directly as you cycle through all of your photos in Finder. Then after having selected all photos by "Cmd-A", click "Alt + Space-bar" at the same time and a full screen mode where you can cycle though all of your photos appears.

Hope it helps. Anyhow, I also hate the way Apple think that Finder should work. I payed 3k for this...

Is there ANY way that when I make the picture full screen, and hit next, that it will open the photo in full screen every time I click next? This is really frustrating that this, as far as I can tell, is not an option. Makes zero sense. If I am going through thousands of pictures, and I have to maximize each one manually, that is a HUGE pain in the arse.

It may not make sense to you, but it does to others. Windows' insistence to open everything in full screen is totally annoying, oversimplified, and a pain to me. I multitask - that means I have more than one window open at the same time - can't do that with a full screen. I also do not want to waste the real estate of my 27" monitor on one image unless I need to maximize pixels to enhance. Whether I am working on images or videos, I need several windows open at the same time.

Mac OS affords you the opportunity to view it at any size you wish which is preferable to only having one choice.

Yes, but I cannot simp;ly click on a picture and have it auto open in full screen? I can't set a default like that? Isn't pictures and vidoe what macs are known for? Why would I not be aboe to double click and it open in full screeen, or stretched so I don't have to hit escape to get out and skip to another pioc, arrows only work if you want to go to the next, bbut when there are 1000's of pics, being able to do this would be nice

Thanks, but when I use Iphoto and use full scren, I have to hit the next arrow to get to the next one or escape and click on the one I want to see. I want to be able to just double click a photo and it open in full view and be able to quickly x out of it. I am dumbfounded as to why something this simple doesn't seem possible on computers made for video/photo editing

The simple fact that I would have to hold this and that and tap that, just to see my photo in full view? Not good at all if true.

Not to mention, that doesn't work.

I jsut want to yes or no answer, really. And if it is a for sure "no" then getting rid of this is my only option.

Can I doble click a picture and it automatically open in full vew where I can simply x out, go to another picture further down, click that, and it open in full view.

That is precisely why it does not do so - because no normal user who spends time editing photos and video would ever want everything to open in full screen, as this leaves all controls and navigation out of reach, as well as wasting CPU resources and slowing down the computer.

Yes, I think the best solution for you is abandon the Mac and get a nice Windows PC.

Well, Klaus1, I'm glad you know how all "normal" people want to use their Macs. I love my Mac, but agree with other posters that Finder is unnecessarily cumbersome for a number of tasks, including organizing folders and opening photos. I've learned tricks to get around the problems, but it's still annoying.

Milew66 - once you've opened your gallery slide show by "Cmd-A", then "Option-space bar", you can click on the "Index Sheet" icon in the controls that appear in the bottom of the screen (4 little squares). Then you can click on the photos you want to see and they will appear in full screen.

I apreciate the other app ssuggestiosn, but it is simply stupid to not be able to click to the next image and keep it in full scrreen view., If I have 2500 pics I do not want to have to wait until they import so that I can view them in fll screen. I just watnt obe able to open one it open in full screeen hit the next arrow and it stay full screen, or BETTER yet actuall be able to click on ANY pic I want and it open in full scren. The fact that this isn't possible boggles my mind. why would I pay 2500$ for a mac and not be able to do something simple like clicking on a photo and it opening in full view, WITHUT having to download an external app.

Exactly what resolution (size) are your pics in? Does your camera take pictures in a native resolution that will actually be large enough to cover your entire screen? A 27" iMac's native resolution is 2560x1440 and 27" diagonally - it is not a 4 - 5" iPhone or 7 or 10" iPad screen.

Displaying smaller photos in a larger size will only make them appear fuzzy. You cannot enlarge pictures without giving up sharpness and possibly significant quality.

As you feel that this "lack" of options is a showstopper, having a Windows PC may be your best option.

Depending on what software you are using, such as iPhoto it shows your images in Thumbnails but when you click them they open to full size, depending on what they were taken with. My FinePix Camera take pictures in 14" X 23" so as you can see it really depends on what the raw photos came in and they can vary a lot. Normally you can click or double click the photo and it will enlarge. If you are using a Photo App, Free or otherwise you will have to learn how it operates.

Yea but I have to import thousands of pictures, which takes a ton of time to do, befioe I can do so! Why is this so hard?

Why can't I simply click a folder, double click a pic, and it open maximized (no necessarily full screen)!!????!!! Whyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????????????

Why should I have to import thousands of pics before I Can do this? Why do I pay 2,500$ for a mac and then get to told to download this, or download that, to do what these things are meant to do.

Please, I just want an answer, no apps to download. I want to open a folder (that I don't have to import into iphoto) click on any pic and it open maximized. Is that REALLY something that should be THIS hard? Two pages of answers that do not answer my question. My question again is why do I have a computer that was almost 3k and I cannot auto open pics maximized WITHOUT having to wait two hours for them to import. This is crazy. I really want to love this computer, considering the price, but christ. The new ones are louder, no doubt, and the fact that I have to go out of my way to do such a common thing makes me sick

The answer:

You can't do what you want the way you want on a Mac. You might want to consider getting a Windows machine.
