I'm having trouble sending emails on my 1and1 account on my ipad

I set up my 1and1 email account sometime ago on my ipad but have never been able to send emails from my account. All the settings are fine and I can send mail from both my iphone and MacBook Pro and have used the same settings. It doesn't work on my ipad. I am getting very frustrated and when I speak to the technical department regarding this they tell me all my settings are fine.

Spoke to Apple but they can't help- I am very disillusioned with this ipad and feel like throwing it out of the window.

Please help.

Ok

have a look on talktalk site and get their smtp settings and go to add server (in SMTP settings of mail account )

with those and add it

TT may be blocking outgoing over their network unless it uses their smtp servers

(usually the issue)

the iPad will try 1&1 first then move on to TT setting )

You do have a 1&1 hosted mail account ....correct

Hi there,

I'm also experiencing this exact same problem.

My broadband is with Sky, and my 3G is with '3'. I experience this problem regardless of which provider I am connected with (wireless or 3G, at home or connected out and about).

As Leyah said, the 1and1 email accounts work perfectly well with the same settings from the iPhone, just not with iPad.

So looking at all this it would suggest it's the iPad that is causing the problem.

I'd be really keen to hear what solutions are suggested. Leyah please post if you managed to get it sorted.

Thanks,

Andrew

Ok, I think I've figured this out.

When you set up the 1and1 email account on the iphone or ipad it asks for username and password for the outgoing mailer server. But it says this is "optional". It is not. (I think this is new since the version of iOS I originally set up my email accounts on)

The thing is, once an email account is set up on the iPhone or iPad there is no option to go in and change these particular settings. So at a glance all the settings appear to be normal.

The only way to rectify the problem is to delete the email account on the iPhone or iPad and re-setup the account, this time ensuring the "optional" username and password are input.

This worked for me anyway. I hope it helps,

Andrew
