I keep getting a finder copying error (-50) while copying a 7.56 gb file from a external hard drive of 80gb formatted for Mac os extended (Journaled) at stops copying at 346MBs please help I really need to copy this file!

Which could be a bad filename or other problem like an unacceptable character for the OSes involved or File transfer method, say like from an AFS backup/disk to an FAT32/MS-DOS Disk using SMB.
Sometimes it just means a Disk or Network problem.

Have you used Disk Utility to just Verify Disk on both, (not Verify Permissions)?
I found out what was the file was a iso I needed to rename to dmg to fix.
Forget what I said on second post still get an error.
Copying fails at 346MBs and trying to archive fails at 346MBs?
The hard drive is an iPod classic with 80gbs with Mac os extended
Have you used Disk Utility as advised?
Have you disabled sleep etc?
Is there enough space on the disk?
Do you have a loose data cable?
If all else fails use Disk Utility to embed it in a disk image - may take a long time.
Try to mount the DMG or ISO in Disk Utility, if that works maybe you can copy that or it's contents, if not it may give us clues.
Did you try the Verify Disks yet?
I just did that except for last one because I dont know how to do that. How do you do last option?
Dmg passed verification. I mounted it but nothing else I want to restore dmg to external hd but the dmg is on the external hd some I can't restore till I copy the dmg to the desktop.
Still can't copy the dmg to desktop!!!!
Why can't you restore from the same disk?
Open it on the external and restore from there.
I got an idea: I'll make a dmg of the mounted dmg it'll create a new dmg of the mounted dmg. Do you think it'll work?
I tried that but I got resource busy error!
So far no error on make a dmg from a mounted dmg it may work!!
