Hi Lester, here's what I have notes on that error...

enum {

paramErr = -50, /*error in user parameter list*/

Which could be a bad filename or other problem like an unacceptable character for the OSes involved or File transfer method, say like from an AFS backup/disk to an FAT32/MS-DOS Disk using SMB.

Sometimes it just means a Disk or Network problem.

Have you used Disk Utility to just Verify Disk on both, (not Verify Permissions)?

  1. Use Disk Utility to repair or verify both your Mac hard disk and the external - the whole drives and not dmg or iso.
  2. Double click the iso on the external - it should automatically mount on your Desktop, do a check and then open
  3. Copy items individually from within the iso to elsewhere

Please note that 2 opens the iso on your Desktop but does not copy to do this.

If 2 fails try again and skip the check.

It should not copy any data. Why did it do that?

When you click a disk image on an external disk it should mount an icon on your Desktop without copying any contents. I wonder if there is something wrong.

Highlight the remote image and Get Info - it should say 'Open with DiskImageMounter.app' - correct this if it is wrong and try double clicking it again.

Did you ever use Disk Utility to verify both Hard Disks?
