Can't find hard disk from install dvd or disk utility.

Was having trouble with my hard disk, so booted up from the DVD to see if I could fix it. Stupidly I wasn't reading the prompts and clicked to install the OS from scratch. Realising this I canceled the install, however now it can't actually locate the hard disk.. only the DVD is showing up when I go to Disk Utility and nothing shows up when I try to install.

Any idea what I can do?
