Vertical orange line down right side of screen

Hi there
I have just purchased a second hand blueberry ibook and when i started it up there was a vertical orange line running straight down the right side of the screen. I tried restarting but nothing changed.
What could be the cause of this and is there anyway I can fix it??
Help would be much appreciated.

Is the line just one pixel wide? If it is it might be a whole column of dead pixels.

thanks for replying! The line is just one pixel - do you know how to fix this? Will i have to replace my whole screen??

It is sometimes possible to message a dead pixel back to life by rubbing the surface of the screen where the dead pixel is with a soft cloth. I have heard reports of it working, but would not recommend it. Also the length of time it lasts is indefinite.

Are there some kind of monitor preferences in OSX that can be trashed so that a new set are created that may eliminate this red line?

I know hardly anything about OSX and I'm wondering if its a software error as opposed to hardware...

i don't have a definitive reply, but i have the same issue on my tangerine clamshell, original owner. it popped up suddenly this winter after many years of trouble-free use, so i'm guessing that it's just a sign of age. probably some dead pixels that will have to be lived with, short of replacing the entire screen.
