You have updates available for other accounts

I just got a brand new Macbook pro, and when I try to update iMovie or iPhoto on the app store, I get this error.

To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.

The problem is I only have one iTunes account, and these apps came with the mac.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I tries searching but all that comes up is pirated apps, which is impossible because this mac is brand new and I have only installed flash and sophos anti virus.

All help is appreciated. Thank you.

This solution worked for me...

I had about 20 apps that were only updatable through 'another account' which didn't exist. This worked for me first time - didn't need to use Terminal, the Sytems Pref's method worked fine. All Apps now updated without issue. Thanks Mark Rosewood for sharing.

I was trying like **** to get the Yosemite package to download and it would not.

I opened the El Capitan package and deleted this folder and boom! I can now download the Yosemite package.

Too bad Apple can't provide a message that clarifies this better... (Hey dummy, you have a newer version of the OS downloaded. You need to delete that before we're going to let you download and old version)
