First you make sure you HAVE A RINGER TONE. Next make your mute button is on. If it's off, the black button will be down position, and an orange spot on spot. Switch it on, and your ringer will activate. If it is turned on, but you still can't hear the ringer, go to Settings> General Settings> Sounds> and set the ringer volume.

This is very easy to resolve in 3 easy steps. goto

1. settings
2. general

3. where it says 'Use Side switch to' you will see two choices
a) Lock rotation
b) Mute

Mute will be ticked if you are not getting a ringtone when someone calls you on Facetime

Simply Click on 'Lock Rotation'

Lock Rotation will now be ticked

Mute will be unticked.

Facetime calls will now ring your iPad2

Well, I have completely the opposite solution.

if I have the button set to control lock rotation then rings are permanently muted, regardless of the switch position. I MUST set the switch mode to "mute" AND then make sure it is off.

This is completely asnine since it means you can't have both rotation lock with the switch and ring sounds!!!!'

Took me 2 years to work this out!!! Dads iPad would not ring at all until just now when I set the switch to control mute.

Whoops sorry. Make sure your mute button is on. And if it's off, it'll be in down position and an orange spot on the top.

also you must ensure your ringtone sound is On.

2. sounds ON

3. ringtone - choose a sound default is marimba
