how do I stop my iPhone from sending data to Apple at midnight every night

My phone is using data every night at midnight, I believe the data usage is due to the phone sending data to Apple, can somebody please tell me how to stop this. I have been told to back my phone up in iTunes and then do a factory reset. After doing this I have been told to select no to sending feedback to Apple, surely there must be an easier way ?
