Migration Assistant: greyed out items

I had to wipe, reformat and reinstall OSX on my Macbook Pro = I used Migration assistant then to move over some of what I needed/wanted from the backup drive and on looking at the list of Apps on my MBP I see some of them are greyed out = as if I had gone to the Label area and hit Grey as a color -- I tried to get rid of the color label and I have updated software = but it stays. Any thoughts or suggestions of what it means?
