I lost my ipod in my house somewhere. Is there an app i can get on my phone to help find it?

Not really. I think Find My iPod would just tell you to which wifi network it is connected and unless you have multiple networks at home it won't be of much use.

If you had Facetime, Messages, Skype or some similar service set up, you could try sending a connection request to yourself and pehaps you'll be able to hear the announcement tone. Otherwise, you'll just have to look for it the old-fashioned way.

If you turned on FIndMyiPod and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud.com, sign in and go to FindMyiPhone. If the iPod shows up select the option to have the iPod play a sound.
