Oleophobic coating?! I doubt it!

Only had my ipad3 for one day. Was really looking forward to a smear and fingerprint-free screen. It appears the Oleophobic coating does not cut it I`m afraid. What`s the deal here?

Probably nothing. It's resistant to fingerprints but not proof against them. And if your fingertips are particularly oily, then you'll be more likely to get smudges and prints. You can take your iPad to an Apple Store, if there's one in your area, and show them the issue. It's not impossible that your screen has a defective coating. But it's probably that there's nothing wrong and you may just need to wash your hands more often (and I don't mean that in any sort of perjorative way).

Regards.

I'm afraid that you had totally unrealistic expectations. Nobody - including Apple - ever said that the screen was fingerprint proof or smudge proof.

Everybody's skin has a certain amount of oil in it - some more than others - it is quite natural and expected to see your fingerprints on the iPad - unless you wash and dry your hands every ten minutes.

I`m making my judgements on the info I received from one of the experts in-store. When I enquired how come theirs had a very messed-up screen they said it was just through constant usage. I have a smart cover, with the same internal material as my phone has. It works on the phone, but not on the ipad.

I don`t think my expectations are unrealistic. Thank you for your input everyone. 🙂
