Can I delete the "Explicit" tag from a song?

When I buy songs from the iTunes Store some come with a "Parental Avdisory Explicit Content" tag and in the title of the song there is a red "Explicit" warning.

We'll leave the discussion of utility these tags to another day. Now that I've been warned and still risked eternal damnation by buying the song I wonder if there is any way to remove the tag?

When I go to "get info" the Parental Advisory warning shows in the "Summary," the red "explict" tag is nowhere to be found but shows in my iTunes beside the song name.

Any ideas?

Thanks

iTunes doesn't provide any way to change such tags. If you run Parallels you could install Mp3tag, tweak the content of the ITUNESADVISORY property (0 = None, 2 = Clean, 4 = Explicit), remove the file from iTunes, then add it back again.

Offhand I don't know of a free-to-use Mac tag tool with the same power as Mp3tag.

.... Or, as you have found, you could just hide the evidence of your excellent choice of original rather than doctored lyrics by chosing not to show content ratings at all. 😀
