stream itunes purchased movies to ipad

hi - I had similar issues on Ipad storage, and decided to buy the seagate Wireless Plus...an awesome piece of kit.

drag and drop your movies from your computer onto your seagate wireless drive (when mounted and connected to computer....btw, you can also do wirelessly...but slower to copy)

...go on to Ipad...connect to the wireless network that the Seagate device creates...and bingo.....Gigabytes of all your favourte movies to watch on your ipad.

This is a very good idea. I Have a seagate device I bought a few years ago to back up my dell laptop when it overheated due to dust in the cooling fan area and it completely blew and I lost all my data. Which was Not backed up. Shame on me. The overheating of the motor was a defect in the Inspirons at the time. Anyway. My seagate holds 85 mg but is not wireless Just USB port ready.

I will try to go through my IBM laptop and then Load the TV series that I purchased through my iPad and iTunes account And then I will transfer the files to the Seagate for future use. Then I suppose I will transfer back through the IBM PC and then watch the series on that.

This is Why I won't be making any movie or TV series purchases through iTunes anymore. As stated in my previous post I feel burned That you are able to purchase movies and television series content on your iPad on your iTunes account so easily and yet cannot play them on the same device And that Apple knows this and there is no warning that your device doesn't have the capacity.

Ironically during the month of December 2012 Comcast In Chicago had the entire Homeland series free on demand Including season 1 and 2 and i was able to watch it over the holidays On the iPad.

I have learned that the iPad is great for virtual data Such as on-demand television that I already purchased separately. From my cable company And streaming popular music from YouTube type application that is not YouTube because your playlist in YouTube don't consecutively play on an iPad.....sorry. That's another topic for the forum.

I have the same complaint, so I looked into other services, and bought my last two movies from amazon. They let me stream or download, and they also don't restrict me to apple products or PC. I would like to have bought them from iTunes, but if I can't stream to idevices any where I have access, I'll get my movies elsewhere. Are you listening apple?

I use AirVideo to stream video content from my windows desktop to my iPad, either on my LAN or through the internet. It converts (on the fly) any source video to mp4. The quality is excellent. At home I AirPlay content to my ATV2 (it's much easier than the clumsy interface of navigating iTunes content directly on the ATV). I can also stream my content when not at home - I once sat in an airport using the free wifi to watch movies I have at home.

It's not a free app, but well worth the couple of bucks I spent on it. I believe Plex does the same thing ... haven't tried it though, but I'm told it works quite well. Also not a free app.

For example...I wanted to put Les Miserables on my iPad. No go...not enough room. I deleted some apps, still no room. I deleted ALLL apps...no room. I deleted all my music, books, podcasts, pictures EVERYTHING...no room. I have to keep it on my MacBook Pro in order to stream it. No the Apple TV and the MacBook can stream it from the iCloud, this proves even more why the iPad and iPhone should be able to stream too.

How many GBs is Les Mis? Even the smallest iPad (16 GB) should be able to hold it...

Les Mis is little over 7GB. A 16GB iPad actually has only 13.5GB available which means you can have at most 5.5GB worth of apps and music and documents and books on your iPad to be able to download the movie.

One of my movies is a little over 4 GB and I thought that was outrageous. 7 GB is insane! What if you select to install the SD version via iTunes on your computer, and then transfer it to your iPad?

Well...yeah...but that defeats the purpose...I don't want to keep any movies or tv shows on my iPad. I was trying to have a Downton Abbey marathon on my iPad this weekend, and I had to delete the current episode before I could download the next episode...in SD. I use my iPad for work, pleasure and my ministry so I have A LOT of apps and documents on there so I can't afford to keep 2GB free all the time just to download a movie to view it. Granted, it's the only way to view movies when not on wi-fi, but that's hardly ever and I can compensate for those rare occasions. And granted I should have a bigger iPad. But then again, if all movies and tv shows were streamable, 16GB is all the space I need.

If I understand the WWDC keynote correctly, streaming of movies and tv shows will be available in iOS 7. Fingers crossed.

I've been able to get my iPad 4 running iOS 6 to stream TV episode without having to fully download it from the iTunes servers (not homesharing) via WiFi. I first noticed that you can play the episode before it fully downloads. Then, if you scrub ahead to an undownloaded part, it will still play. If you switch to the iTunes app and pause the pending download, you can apparently stream the episode without having to completely download it. In the two different TV shows I tried, the pending download created a duplicate of the season in the Videos app, only one of which I could stream when clicking on the episode that is pending download. It's a hack, but it works. Movies don't seem to work, since the play button is replaced with a stop download button.

Now how would Apple make money off the sequentially larger storaged devices if everything came from "The Cloud"? Lol. We all know they barely turn a profit.

Perhaps someday we will be able to stream our iTunes, TV Shows, and Movies.

In one sense Apple does this for you-you aren't burning up your data, if your not connected to WiFi. ex. Avatar is many Gigabites in size... Also, their (Apple's) bandwidth is stressed when people over shoty network Internet tries to download large files. "It's hard to go that slow"... Or the constant speed changes from switching towers, or completely having to stop and go when your in and out of service...etc.

So the same restrictions of FaceTime applies to Videos, iOS updates, and Apps over 50 mb...

But, again, if you could just stream everything... There would be GREATLY less demand for the higher storage capacities. Apple counts on people wanting to stuff their phones with stuff you buy from them.

On another note, maybe they could do things like the Gaming Consoles...& sell the phones at a loss.

Ie. When Microsoft released Xbox 360, it sold $126 less than what it cost Microsoft to make it. Sounds crazy seeing as it was like a zillion dollars already... But they make their profit off the Games, Accessories, and Xbox Live.

Point being, if they sold the phones at cheaper prices people could afford the 64gb phones no problem and Apple could let people stream because they'd still make their friggin money because we'd spend the extra friggin money on the "good deal" bigger phones!

Don't make me laugh! Do you have any idea how cheap flash storage is? Apple sells it in $100 increments. They are defently making a profit.
