Dead network port
I inherited my relativly new (but not the latest) mini mac from a family member. I am a WinTel weaned person and work in IT so am not a novice. However i cannot get the 10/100 netowrk port on the mac to work with my cable modem.
It isnt the modem because it is fine on my laptop and it looks like the network prot is not even functioning at the physical layer. I have used straight through, crossovers, hubs and switches and it simply won't talk to anything and appears dead. I have set the port ot active and the mac sees it as 'built in port'
If anyone can help it would be great! To me it looks hardware related but knowing my luck there is probably a setting somwhere like 'make the ethernet port look dead'.
Cheers
