Is there a way to delete contacts on my iPhone but keep them on my Mac (Macbook Pro) or vise versa. I use iCloud, so Im not sure. Some people I no longer need to contact via phone, but would still like to keep their contact info, in case I ever need to contact them.

Drag them to your "on my mac' group in address book, contacts in this group won't sync with iCloud.

Everything else backs up to itunes........... (Music, app). I also have a full back up of my entire hard drive on an external drive. Now that I think about it I may not need to move my contacts" On my Mac"

Wondering now if i should move all my contacts (make a copy) to "on my mac" . That way I have a back up.... just in case...........
Never know if iCloud could loose my contact info.
You should never be without a backup, what about the rest of your stuff, is it OK to lose that?
Backup everything.
You can export or archive your contacts from Address Book's File menu (File>Export) and save them locally.
I'd rely on your standard back up, keeping duplicates of your contacts in address book is not only untidy, but can sometimes lead to mistakes.
I think thats what i'll do......... that way i dont have doubles.....

I had deleted all the contacts "om my mac" and wanted to put some back on that I didnt nessary need on my phone..... and the on my mac disapeered.
How do I get that back?
