Check your SMTP settings.

I have the same problem, try to edit smtp ssettings but does not work. I even made a support call to Apple a few days ago. They said some problems are at Apple.

Check your outbox, you may have a bunch of emails stuck there because one of them could not send.

Outbox is empty
