Free Mountain Lion Upgrade

I filled in the info for the free Mountain Lion upgrade on my retina macbook pro... unfortunately I'm from Canada and it asked for a zip code (even though I was on apple.ca). I put in my postal code and was able to "submit my info" and get a claim reference number. Hopefully it still works.. I did notice it appended United States to my address too.

My best advice would be to go to where you bought your Mac or call them to complain. Perhaps they can help - that's what I'm doing today anyway. I've waited 6 days now. The only mail I've gotten is one regarding an invalid receipt, telling me that there is no information that I've paid for and received my product, which is total bullcrap.

I don't know what the **** they're doing, but it sure as **** doesn't live up to the reputation or experience I've associated with Apple.

I've just talked to an Apple-guy on the phone. He told me that there was nothing wrong with the receipt, perhaps just a misread by the ones checking the claims. Sigh... Big time sigh. Next time, they should lose the bureaucracy and just make an automated program and hand out codes WITH the receipts. That way, all the irritation caused by this scandal would be eliminated.

After 5 days of waiting, I talked to Apple support who told me that everything was approved and that she was resending the email at that very minute. I kept her on the line and waited for the email that NEVER arrived.

The support lady told me that it must be my ISP's spam blocker, so I called my ISP who informed me that no message from Apple was hitting their email server and Apple's email obviously was not being blocked by any spam blocking program.

Oh well, I guess I will just spend the $20.

Sadly, this mess will forever alter my view of Apple's previously stellar reputation.
