How come MacBook (early 2008) cannot install Mountain Lion?
I'm interested in mountain lion but my Macbook cannot install it? How come?

10.7 which is Lion is supported on a 4,1 black MB. I'm running and typing on it right now.

It agrees with my finding too. I eventually figured the difference between Lion & Mountain Lion which I had though the same + a bit. But Lion still has 32 bit kernel which my black MacBook can handle. MtLion has 64 bit kernel which it can't handle. I got all that from this page!
So, Lion is as far as I can go.

Truthfully, there isn't a whole lot that you are missing by not being able to run Mountain Lion, 10.8. I have 10.8 running on my 2010 MB and there just isn't enough features there to feel bad about missing.
Enjoy that black MB, I still love using mine and will continue using it until it dies.
I agree here too. Unless iCloud is something you can't live without, Lion is still great and you will be very happy for some time.
not true, deggie. even the 64 bit early 2008 MacBook cannot accept Mountain Lion.
