Corrupt Mountain Lion File @ App Store?

This is the message I'm repeatedly getting from the app store:

We could not complete your purchase

The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.

Note the store is otherwise working correctly.

If you type in "var" (w/o the quotes) in EasyFider it will give you about 7 results.

Use same criteria (radio-left panel)

Pick the one is Lion>private>var

Then continue to open foders up to C/com.apple.appstore

Make sure that ther is not red circle on the folder (➖)

Most important: Make sure Appstore app is not running when you try to delete the folder. Otherwise will say that the files in the folder are in use.

Good luck.

Uninstalling VB X6 seems drastic, what about turning it off or allowing all incoming connections? I just used the App Store to update six apps with no problem. Only problem is connected to Mountain lion.

I'll give uninstalling VB X6 after I try a few other things.

You would think by now Apple should be giving it us free. Spent whole day trying to apply all suggested solutions, including downloading 10.7.4 again and reinstalling, plus uninstalling Virus barrier X6, plus, plus - none work

Where is apple in all of this? Thanks to all who have suggested options.

cheers - sit back and watch the Olympics!

I too was getting the "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." message.

As advised by the postings, I did the following:

Quit the App Store app

Moved the "com.apple.appstore/" folder to the Trash

Opened Intego X6

Deauthorized Intego X6 apps

Restarted the computer

Relaunched the App Store app

The error message was gone and I was now able to purchase Mountain Lion

Thanks!
