Installed it at home (Sky is the ISP) on a Macbook. It took the whole of the Olympic opening ceremony to do it but that is an issue with UK broadband out in the sticks I'm afraid, not Apple. Did not stick at 53.25mb. Tried to install at work on to iMac, stuck at 53.25mb! Used the HotSpot dodge and it worked. ISP at work is, you've guessed it, BT Business. So there is some issue there.

I have the same problem - stuck at 53.25MB. I have also tried restarting the machine, pausing the download and even cancelling the download. When I try to install again, the ML download sticks at 53.25MB. HAve tried contacting App Store support, but it looks like I'll be waiting 48 hours for a reply. I'm using BT in case this becomes relevant.

You wont get past 53.25mb using the BT hub, dont ask ne why, you just won't. You need to download Hotspot shield and that provides you with a U.S.A Proxy. Then you get past the 53.25mb point and can either carry on with the Hotspot or shut it down and carry on with BT, depending on which is faster. I used BT after I got past the stalling point as it was quicker than using the proxy. I've done it on two machines now, and all ok.

Thanks, I've found out that it's the BT Business Hub - the 2Wire 2700HGV that's causing the problem, as its firmware caps the maximum downloadable file size at 2GB. If you have one of these hubs, you need to call BT and ask them to send you a firmware update, which will remove the file size cap. It's delivered down the line, but they have told me that it may take up to 48 hrs to arrive. Thanks BT!

I purchased Mountain Lion several days ago but unable to install as like everyone else it got stuck at 53.25MB.

I have a BT Business Hub.

Simiarly to some comments above, I used the Hub to get me to the stock point and then switched to using my iPhones personal Hotspot. It carried on the download but very slowly.

After letting an ample amount download, i switched back to my Hub. It struggled for a bit - sometimes dropping 10/15MB before continuing its progress. So far I'm at 700MB with 44 Mins to go. I only hope it doesnt get currupted!

HELP! Ok, I've been reading of the slow download times here. I think, at the rate my download is coming in, I have you all beat....in slowness. I have Broadband. I did all the recommended pre download/install steps recommended before starting this. My download has not been going for 2 1/2 hours and only 355 MB out of 4.24 GB has come in so far. The status bar says it could take from one to two DAYS before it's done! Really???

Anyone else had it be this slow?

Re: BT Business Hub and Mountain Lion download...

It would seem that if you can get past 110Mb downloaded, the rest will carry on... Here's how I downloaded ML from the Mac App Store in less than 30 mins...

1. Using the regular BT connection, start the download

2. Checking in Launchpad (for speed) you will see the download sticks at 50-100Mb

3. When it sticks, pause it (click the icon once in Launchpad)

4. Download and install Hotspot Shield, let it do it's thing until it says you're 'protected'

5. Continue your download of ML (Launchpad, click the 'paused' Mountain Lion icon so it resumes)

6. The download should start to continue... you may need to 'pause/unpause' it a couple of times.

7. All sorted, installable and glitch-free for me.

The problem, as discussed, is the maximum download size for a single file from BT Business hubs.

You can uninstall the Hotspot Shield from the .dmg once it's been used.
