How do you access Preview documents on iCloud?

Hey! Did you do it on Mountain Lion? I am trying to find the Mobile Documents folder in Mac OS Mavericks, but I can't see it in Library. I looked around the web, but other posts also refer to the same approach with Mobile Documents. Thanks!

How do you create a folder in iCloud?

This lack of a fundamental organisation requirement is the main reason I do not go near iCloud. I have 17,150 documents in Dropbox and the though of all those being in 1 directory fills me with dread.

Just like iPages: Drag one file on top of another and it creates a folder. You can then rename the folder. Just like iOS Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

Should ever want to trash the folder but not the contents: Highlight all the files under the folder and move them out of the folder, i.e., the level above the folder. Again, just like iOS Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

I solved the problem by downloading an app called Documents, by "Savy Soda" in the App Store.

The app is using iCloud, after activating the iCloud storage, i can find the directory of the app on "Mobile documents" on Mac OS 10.9

I can copy my PDF/DOC files in my Mac folder, and then i can get them on iOS :-)

Perfect.

The app is free but there is advertising, i'm going to buy the 2-3 USD app.

You can see PDF file on you iPad or iPhone by using an app called Cloud Mate. You download it to your Mac and to you iPhone. I have tried and it works

I am facing this problem as well. I have many pdf files that I wish to share them with my iOS. I have a iPhone 4 with OS 7 and a mid 2012 MBP with Maverick. I wish to transfer some pdfs from my MBP to my iPhone. I pulled my files into iCloud in Preview, and I can't read them in my iPhone. After some trails and errors, finally I found a way: iBook.

Install iBook in both MBP and iOS, drag the PDFs into MBP's iBook, then sync them to iOS using iTunes, and all my PDFs could be read in my iOS's iBook.

I guess iBook could be sync across many devices without using iTunes, but not in my MBP and Iphone. I could be wrong though, as I dragged a pdf file into iBook and hoping it could sync to my iPhone, but the new pdf doesn't show up in my iOS without synching through iTunes.

After you install OS X Mavericks and open iBooks for Mac for the first time, iBooks for Mac will automatically move your book library from iTunes over to the iBooks for Mac app. When you try to browse your Book library in iTunes 11.1 or later, iTunes will notify you that your books have been moved to iBooks for Mac. After clicking OK, you'll no longer see Books in your media list in iTunes. Future book purchases made from the iBooks Store through iTunes or iBooks will download to your iBooks library instead of iTunes.

So should no longer need iTunes with regards to books. Are you using latest version of itunes?

When you installed ibooks, and it automatically moved book library to ibooks did you then go into iBooks and informed you that your contents moved to ibooks?

When you fist ran iBooks and clicked get started did you sign in to your Apple ID where it asks if you want to sync, and it will sync bookmarks, highlights and collections across all of your devices?

Dont worry, If you miss this step, you can always choose to set up syncing later by clicking on iBooks in the upper left hand corner, opening the preferences screen, and checking the “Sync” box.

No it doesn't. It's because I have not purchased any book at the moment. I believe that explain why I don't see a book library in my iTunes.

Yes, it does. I've entered my Apple ID for my Mac and my iOS. And yes, I've checked the "Sync" box both in my Mac's iBook and iOS iBook.

Once everything is set, I dragged a scan document (in pdf format) into Mac iBook, and it shows in PDFs collection window. I am hoping it will then sync with my iOS, but it does not happened. And I still need to sync this pdf with iTunes. 😟

I am having this problem as well, iWorks isn't free anymore for non new user. Here's what I did, I wanted to view my docs from iCloud to my iPhone 4s, I have Adobe reader so I converted my docs. to pdf file and exported it to my local folder, while my iPhone is connected to Mac, I went ahead and browse my Adobe Reader apps from my phone then added my pdf files into it. Now I have a pdf file docs on the phone that I can view.

Just adding my voice to the concerns expressed here. This is a significant oversight I feel.

I've read through a good handful of these replies which seem to all make suggestions on workarounds or say they also wish this worked, but I on the other hand have a solution you may like.

It's not totally native, but it works like a charm for me. I'm able to open up any apps that I've saved to my iCloud drive within any iOS app that I choose.

I found an app which somehow allows access to the entire iCloud drive (or most of it anyway), which is amazing. I'm not really sure how it managed to do so, but either way, regardless of how - it just works, and it actually works great. I would like it if somebody could dig into this and tell me whether there is a potential security concern or hole here by using this app; however I'm thinking Apple wouldn't have approved the app if it wasn't legit though.

The app is called Cloud Opener. Let me give you a quick primer on using it though. I read some reviews and found that people thought that it was making them wait a long time to start up the app, but it turns out that it comes up fast (shows the big cloud button/logo), and you're supposed to tap on that and it opens right up into your iCloud drive. From there you have access to all of the features iOS offers for sharing or attaching or opening etc. I was able to store txt files and PDF files in my Preview and TextEdit folders within iCloud, and they all worked flawlessly in iBooks and GoodReader, etc.

Use "Cloud Opener", there is a free version on the app store, and it allows you to browse your iCloud drive and then choose a file from the Preview folder (or any other folder) and then assign an app to open it with on your iOS device.
