Mountain Lion AirPlay Mirroring (iMac to AppleTV) Not Working

I think AirParrot is the answer for those of us with older Macs: http://www.airparrot.com/ . At first glance AirParrot looks pretty good. 🙂 Only cost me $10. 🙂

Maybe Apple should buy us all a copy of AirParrot with a giant disclaimer that performance may not be indeal. Otherwise, I still feel I wasted $20 for notification I didn't want.

Nah, I think what apple should do is TRY to release airplay for previous macs. If not possible then they can give out Airparrot. My 3rd Gen ipod is 2009 and could do airplay. With videos, music, movies, photos. I bet the previous macs can do that stuff. Maybe not the screen to screen but at least music, movies, and photos.

They have been able to do that since Lion.

Because iPhone's and iPads(newer versions) have on-GPU H.264. They can offload much of the mirroring heavy lifting to the GPU. You can have a 4 processor Quad core XEON server with a terrible graphics card and the iPad will still be able to do mirroring better with less resource drain.

I feel for owners that don't have a GPU that supports mirroring. I just bought a 2011 Mac Mini, its going to replaced most likely in a couple months with a Ivy Bridge Mac Mini with USB 3.0 and Intel 4000 GPU. I can't cry that my USB ports are slow 2.0 version and why can't they be updated with a firmware update.

My story is similar to Ray in Naples and to me I am very disapointed that I have to purchase a third party software for airplay mirroring while i have already paid for the mountain lion upgrade.

Not to mention my hardware is a Pro Video editing monster: 17" macbook pro running Final Cut Pro.......

I7 CPU, 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD and another 1TB HDDdrive.

and honestly I am in the mood to purchase the Macbook Pro Retina since my current hardware is at par in performance.

Well the agent gave you bad news along with imprecise information. I happen to have an i7 iMac and guess what, It wont airplay either because it too "old"

"Money grabbing exercise" I like that I just did not know how to say it. An exercise they are getting fit at!

It turns out that the revolutionary products they come up with get old so fast that they cannot meet their immediate improvements!

I can't believe this I was counting down the days since they talked about this feature and NO WHERE did I see that you have to have a mac less than a year old for it to work... I feel robbed!!!

My story is a little different. I purchased a new iMac (mid-2011)and apple tv (latest one) last week. My iPad and iPhones connect to AirPlay. Even my iTunes on my iMac connects no dramas.. Problem is I have no AirPlay icon on the top right bar of the iMac so I can't mirror. I've searched the forums and can't find any threads with people with compatible macs not being able to mirror. Any help would be appreciated.

If Airparrot can do this flawlessly on my 2009 IMac - and yes it can as I just tried their trial...then Apple should fix this **** problem. This is my first time posting here. So ticked off at you Apple!!! FIX IT!!!

I'm in the same boat. I bought ML just for airplay. This *****. Can I return this for a refund?

So has anyone else noticed that Apple just added Hulu Plus to Apple TV? It just appeared in the menu today. I know that's one of the big reasons that many of us were looking forward to AirPlay mirroriing. I still wish I could mirror for many other reasons, but at least that's something.
