Mountain Lion AirPlay Mirroring (iMac to AppleTV) Not Working

Mountain Lion successfully installed on my iMac.

AppleTV sucessfully networked with my iMac (at least where iTunes and iPhoto are concerned.)

But AirPlay icon is NOT appearing in my menu bar. Any clues as to why this is?

In System Preferences, I've checked "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" but still nothing.

Below is a screenshot of my menu bar. Thanks in advance!

Never mind. Just realized my iMac is too old. Late 2009.

AirPlay will only work for mid 2011. 😟

This is really ridicules,my MBP is i5 (mid 2010) which I've bought it early 2011 and I've got an Apple TV3 just a few days ago, upgraded to MLion just for AIRPLAY MIRRORING and now what. I'm as upset as every on else, felt cheated and I think APPLE is getting to greedy to push us every day to purchase new devices. If Microsoft have had down the same, its share would have been as twice as Apple's share.

What a load of crap this is. This "OS" update doesn't get me airplay mirroring. Messages integration isn't coming until OS 6 (if it actually happens). Facebook integration is coming later this fall. I mean does anything Apple advertised as a upgrade actually freaking work? Full screen apps still black out my second monitor. Oh wait. I have a Notes and Reminders app and I can "star" people in mail. Big woopty doo. Could have just given me application updates. This is a pointless freaking release.

What makes this worse on Apple's part is that they did a pretty good job of explaining that Power Nap was limited only to very recent, flash-only machines, but they didn't provide the same clear caveats about AirPlay Mirroring. In fact, providing caveats about certain features but not others arguably lulled us into believing that the features would be generally available.
