Slideshow screensaver shows 'No Photos' when directed to a folder that contains folders of photos

Ditto, Apple. PLEEZ put this back the way it was. Recurse into the subfolders. There is no way i'm going to flatten the directory structure of my photos just for the screensaver!

Absolutely brain dead change. Any pointers to third party photo screen savers that will do this?

I too have this problem. Doesn't make sense.

Just installed Mountain Lion and ran into identical No Photos screensaver issue. Bummer.

This is an unfortunate step backwards.

I digitized some 30,000 family photos for my parents from old Kodachrome and prints and organized them into several hundred subfolders that were being used for the slideshow screensaver on their iMac.

My father is not good with the computer, but he figured out he could wait for the screensaver to come on, then he'd sit there and watch it for hours and get all misty-eyed at the family memories.

It was one of the few things he truly enjoyed.

So I need Apple to explain to my 86-year old father why he can no longer do this.

Please fix this Apple! Those slideshow look nice, but they need to look recursively in my pictures folder and subfolders.

Also, the Ken Burns effect is also a small regression.. for taller images there are now black borders on the side.. where as in SL and Lion it just did a turbo scroll kind of effect. Please bring that back too.

Also... you might not realize this Apple, but some people use those screensavers to transform their TV set into a big picture frame for whenever they are not watching TV. It runs all the time in my living room...

So with that in mind, can you also improve the randomization? It seems that whenever a new slideshow starts, it randomly pick a tiny subset of my picture collection (maybe 50 pictures or so) and only play those same pictures over and over. The only way to view different pictures is to get out of the screensaver and start it again. Is it that hard to go through the whole collection? I have tens of thousands of pictures.

These slideshows really look nice tho...

I have read here that Apple does not read these forums. Don't know.

Given that, how does one get word to Apple to add/fix/delete or whatever it is you want/need?

I have learned they DO read them! I posted a topic that expressed general dissatisfaction with this issue and others related to Mountain Lion, and many others chimed in, but within an hour Apple had removed it.

They sent me a friendly email that said I had violated the user agreement by posting a " Non-constructive rant or complaint". I guess they got their eye on me now and I better get in line.

Apparently Apple does not tolerate dissent, I expect this post might bet me banned. I will chuckle all the way back to Windows.

Apple moderates these forums but will not take action because of these forums. I hope that makes sense.
