if i format my mac to mountain lion without having a backup do i lose my "iPhoto" witch i got from buying a new mac

i have some apps like : iphoto, imovie, facetime ... since i bought my mac


what if i format my mac to mountain lion without a backup do i lose all these apps or there is some kind of registration like a serial number ?

If you ever do a major upgrade (or update) without a backup you are at risk of losing all of your files including your photos. In fact if you do not always have a good backup you are 100% grade teed to lose everything sooner or later. Bad things happen. You really need to go purchase an external hard drive at least 2 1/2 times as large as your main drive and start Time Machine before continuing. Otherwise you are betting every file you have and it is a bad bet.
