I've got it handeled also !
AIR PARROT is the big culprit here too.
I could solve the issue by putting the 2009 Macbook Pro 17" under Mountain Lion 10.8.5 to sleep like suggested and then waking up would 'solve' the drag & not dropping issue.
But actually, AIRPARROT is what was causing this in the root system.
I have unistalled all files, and now the PROBLEM IS SOLVED !
If this can help anyone, I have used this little REMOVAL TOOL by Airsquirrels that worked perfectly for me. After reboot, all is fine.
You will have to click on the link in the text to download it.

Or you can do this :
For Macs running OS X 10.6, the following commands can be run from the terminal:
- sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
- sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
- sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.squirrels.AirParrot.plist
- sudo rm -rf /Applications/AirParrot.app
For users using OS X 10.9 or 10.10 the following additional commands may be necessary:
- sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
- sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
Be sure to reboot when you're finished.
Hope this helps !!!
Fred.
