Exchange under Mountain Lion

I have major problems using Exchange in Mountain Lion. Under Lion everything worked fine (Mail, Calendar, Contacts incl. global address list). Under ML only Calendar works, Mail and Contacts show connection errors. Our corporate server is Exchange 2007.

Has somebody a fully working Exchange in ML?

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

Guys, I nearly understand half of the things you are testing/trying here. I have a small business with 5 employees and am not a pro in network or Exchange issues/preferences. We have an external IT admin who manages our internal Exchange server. He comes, configures our system, gives me the server address for internal access (192....) and external access for home office (217...) and writes me an invoice of 100 box. That's it.

I need Apple to fix this and I really hope Apple is going to fix the problem we had with lion as well (disappearing folders when trying to access with the internal address within the internal network).

I'm glad Apple is monitoring this issue (@mikeoliver) and I hope we get a update asap....

Hi all,

My Exchange is semi working

I just upgraded to ML yesterday, MacMail is connected to my hosted exchange service,

I have SSL ticked on both internal and external servers

I have internal and external addresses listed.

I am getting new email not old.

Mine seems to connect, but really really farking slowly.

For Calanders I can add new appointments, and can see them on iPhone and iPad. but again really really slow.

Ive tried adding to the host file, not sure if it was done 100% correctly. but its really really slow.

I also had issues downloading the ML update, I had to install a program called HOTSPOT, as suggested by other users. The download stopped at 25.23mb. My partners mac, has the same issue.

Im not 100% unnhappy with ML but Exchange is really important, as it syncs so well for multiple devices. Its also nicer for using iCal and Contacts (addressbook)

I hope this information helps

Cheers

I'll go ahead and post then (since I know that nothing like this gets fixed unless Apple hears about it directly) that I too had the same problem. Using the etc/hosts solution combined with typing in the external server in Mail and selecting Use SSL with the external server eventually worked for me. Calendar settings had to be adjusted manually (along with the mail settings). I also had to delete all Keychains related to my Exchange account and let them be recreated.

Mail, Calendars, etc. has been accessing the Exchange account from home now for several days (and also at a hotel and public WIFI) with no issues. The initial start-up of Mail has the access of the account taking a good period of time (almost a minute) and then it runs without problems (and connects very quickly). The computer has been off and on; in sleep mode; Mail has been shut down and launched over and over. Connects every time now.

Thank you to all who have posted this and helped with the workaround. Glad to hear Apple is on board for a solution. I tried to schedule a call (because sometimes they don't monitor these posts) but it disconnected. If they want to call me, I guess they will through this!

Update: When I'm not in the office, modifying /etc/hosts to make the internal server hostname resolve to the external server IP makes things work. When I'm in the office, I have to comment out that line in /etc/hosts in order to successfully contact the internal server.

It'a a pain, but clearly the problem is that the autodiscovery info is somehow confusing Mail. A simple option to override the autodiscovery settings would help knowledgable users, but for less savvy users the faulty autodiscovery interpretation must be fixed.

This also worked for me, even after closing and re-opening Mail.

Checking use SSL on both internal and external servers on the advanced tab seemed to do the trick for me I now have email send and receive. Closed program and relauched and it still works.. It appears that the external server needed to be set to 443 (SSL) as well for it to work. I left the default server addresses in place since it always seemed to go back to those addresses anyway.

This worked fine before the upgrade so the upgrade had to of changed something.

Here is something that I seem to have noticed - maybe it will help someone who is smarter than me figure out a good fix.

I've tried all the renaming of servers, etc., and it always seems to just work for a bit. I seems to me that the information isn't completely lost - but that the reading of the exchange files just seems to go missing - meaning that I think that once populated the emails stay somewhere on your computer, it's the locating and displaying of those emails that seems to be corrupted somewhere.

I had the same problem.

I phone to Apple support and togeteher we found the fault !!!

By the upgrade in mail account the internal server denomination change ?

I put the previous original one that I received by the installation of my exchange account, and everything was working normally

The men from Apple was happy !!! 🙂

I'm also of course 😉
