Exchange under Mountain Lion

I have major problems using Exchange in Mountain Lion. Under Lion everything worked fine (Mail, Calendar, Contacts incl. global address list). Under ML only Calendar works, Mail and Contacts show connection errors. Our corporate server is Exchange 2007.

Has somebody a fully working Exchange in ML?

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

I am personally not able to understand, why apple is not adressing this issue, the wohle internet is full of this error report, the mail app simply works like crap in combination with exchange and it did work like crap before in mac os lion. it it the application, that crashes most on every mac i own, and it certainly is not an issue of system resources since i have the most expensive retinva mac with every upgrade possible in my hands and it still works like crap.

This is not only a personal issue, since i try to convice our ceo for switching in our company from windows to apple and since we use exchange and will use it in the future apple is not an option at all at this moment.

i dont like outlook for mac and i don't want to use it, so what the **** is the problem for a company with billions of dollar net profit every quarter to produce a bugfree mail application?

I CANNONT UNDERSTAND THIS.

ITS SIMPLY ANNOYING IGNORANCE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS!

SHAME ON YOU, APPLE!!!

None of this works.

So my 2 iMac's will not see our server on the finder menu under shared or able to connect. And weirdly the mail does not work with Exchange.

am no techie but that means, if my mac can't see the server, then what hope does it have of downloading email off a server it can't see...😉

yet the iphone and ipad can see the server and will download email...

ALSO, if I switch my mac between wired and wifi, the email will connect download email that is NEW, but if I try and find any old email I won't be able to.

so the exchange

yes ofcourse we are all on the same physical network.

I used to be able to get into the server drive to shared docs, now under ML I can't, and also exchange email doesn't work on both Macs. We have a fresh account on one machine, like a brand new install, the same problems, NO email, NO server access.

the problem is linked.

ok, I had to ask. You wouldn't believe how many people on these forums don't understand that concept and since you said "am no techie" well, I had to ask.

The Finder issue is a whole new problem not related to this lengthy thread about Exchange, maybe that deserves a whole new thread of it's own. That wouldn't have to do with Exchange losing folders nor Exchange changing the server name in mail preferences.

don't worry fella, when I say I am no techie, I mean am not good in understanding what set of letters does what. I do know my Apple stuff though and my way around the system.

I hear what your saying.. but it is worth considering. I have just deleted my exchange account and closed MAIL. I then went into hidden library and deleted under prefs my mail.plists and any plist I thought to be resulting to exchange mail.

Now we have a hard wired network and a WIFI network. Ofcourse the iMac has both, with the network prefs on setting the service order of the ethernet as 1st and wifi as second.

With Wifi switched ON it will find exchange accounts, start to sync emails, folders etc etc and gradually slowly get my emails.

with WIFI OFF, it won't get all my folders and emails.

If I send an email from iphone or receive email on iphone and then go to look at it on iMac it is not there, its like it is saying, your iphone has downloaded from the exchange server therefore we don't need to download it again to your iMac.

I still maintain that the server issues I have which is another subject, is linked to the mail issues. They are all coming via the server, which my iMac is having trouble seeing after the upgrade of ML.

What worked best for me was not just deleting the plist, but the entire folder associated with my exchange account in Library:

User uploaded file

I deleted everything in that folder. Of course - don't do this if you aren't comfortable with it. This kept my account running smoothly for a solid day - no delays in messages in and out, calendars synced, etc. I found I had to do this frequently though to to get my account on track.

As of now I'm using Microsoft Office for Mac until this gets resolved. Watching posts - but I am tired of wasting my time on it.

Would be nice if Apple would acknowledge the problem formally though.

Just one.

On that note...

I also noticed that if you create your Exchange account in System Preferences and you input a case mismatch (for example, capitalization of your name or the domain name) in the email address you supply at the beginning of the account creation process, it will create one Exchange account for all Exchange services, but later split into two - one with the case mismatch with Mail, Contacts and Notes enabled, and a second with the correct (all lower) case with Calendar and Reminders enabled.

Weird?!
