Late back,

Safe Boot and Set Date & Time are what I am getting from this (I was coming back to suggest checking Date and Time Settings)

Check Routers as well if the Mac's are OK

Hi,

Try a Safe Mode boot.

Once this has done then Restart the computer (Normally)

Hi,

Only the Login ports can be changed and those can be changed in the Preferences > Accounts for the iChat Style Accounts

The iMessages side or "Account" uses port 443 to Login with some feedback from the servers on Port 80.

AS you can Login in here and post both those ports are open in your Router.

If the Mac firewall is On you could check the Mac Firewall is allowing Messages

Hi all, this solution has worked for me, I describe step by step and please forgive my English:

- Open FaceTime, attempts a connection and leave the window in the error message, but do not close the program.

- Open messages, open Preferences and try to connect iMessage account with your Apple ID. If you still have the error, leave the window open showing that error.

- Open Activity Monitor (Spotlight will help you find it). Using the filters you select "All Processes" and in the search field locates the process "imagent". Kill this process. It will restart again almost immediately.

- Now go back and try again FaceTime the connection with your Apple ID. Wait until the identity is validated, you can take a while.

- And finally do the same with IMessage account, using the same Apple ID you used in Facetime.

Good luck!

Hi,

The App "Messages" replaces iChat

iMessage or iMessages is something that the Messages App does to iDevices running at Least iOS 5.

(You are looking for the 'Wrong" thing)

EDIT.

I have now got emails about the other posts and have read someone has said that.

In Launching Mesages the first thing you are required to do is Login an Apple ID for the iMessages part.

WHen laucnhing FaceTime for the first time the first thing is to "register" and APple ID you are going to use with that

Both Apps use IMAgent to connect.

Thanks andzyao,

Safe Boot method worked for me, iMessage now working as it should 🙂

Kept returning message "unable to connect with servers at this time, please try again later"

1. Shut down.

2. Switch on again. Immediately hold down the "SHIFT" key until you the log in screen.

By doing this, your mac will be in "Safe Boot" mode.

3. Sign into iMessage using Apple ID.

4. Shut down or restart your Mac normally.

5. iMessage should open at startup.
