Whenever I try to install Mountain Lion on my 2011 Mac Pro it fails and I get message telling my that a Recovery file could not be created and to visit http://www.apple.com/support/no-recovery. After going through the support document, I haven't been able to find a solution or work around.
I'm upgrading from Lion on a Mac Pro I bought in 2011.

Why are your 3TB drives limited to 2.2TB each? Do you have the Apple RAID card installed?
Yes, I have the Apple RAID card installed.
As stated in the article you linked to in your original post, you can't create a recovery partition on a RAID volume.
Fair enough ... Mountain Lion will not install until it can create that stupid file. Does that mean I should stop trying to upgrade?

I had no problems upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard either. I guess will have to wait and see.
I'll see what I can do; I assume figure out how to backup my bootcamp and then just delete the thing and figure out how to revive it after ML install
If you are going to use an OS X NTFS driver then I suggest you get Paragon especially now they upgraded that v. 10.0 is available.
Sure, I should have said "driver and/or firmware" as either being out of date might cause a problem.
Tried Safe Mode? (Shift at Startup.)
If you get there, it has tried one pass of Disk Repair and booted up with minimal extensions.

installing the Lion recovery update did NOT help in my case, the install still fails at the 30 min point. Not really sure what the recovery install does either??
