Google Search Gone in Safari

I want the google search bar which allowed you to search from a page and retain the page.

It was extremely useful to me.

Bring it back.

Ok , i know there is no love between apple and google , why the customer has to pay for all this ? Not fair .

This is a big FAIL for apple. disapointed. time to look for a new browser.

I'll join in the clammer for the Google search box to return- it was so great to multi-task. Now, I have to erase whatever is my address bar to type a search, or add a new tab instead of just going up the right hand corner and typing! Extra steps=not welcome.

I'm frustrated with the google search bar being taken away as well. I woukdn't have one of the competitor's computers if it was given to me with that awful JAWS program on it. However, I am concerned that some spy from the competitor's group of software engineers has managed to infiltrate Apple and corrupt our perfet Apple with their rubbish ideas for computers. I'm not sure if yiu can use time machine to go back on safari or not. I can't see well enough to bother with it. I have noticed that Lion seems more like the other giys computer operating systems, including the mail feature., the automatic re-openig of windows and programs not shut down. I've gotten spoiled to the past qualities of Apple. But now it seems they are going more like those other giys more and more. Seriously, is there a spy from the other side creating Mac Os or did the greatness of Apple pass away with its' top man. I personally, can not see Stever Jobs allowing his product to be anything less than it was before Lion! I miss you Steve :-(

I can't go to firefox because my voice over won't work with firefox and since I'm legally blind I have to use safari. Does anyone know if any other browsers work with Appe's Voice Over?

I've heard a number of people say that they want the "Google search bar" back. I want a "search bar" that can be configured to use ANY search provider - in my case, lxquick.

I don't see why an option isn't there for the user to choose whether to enable it or not. I've specifically not switched to Chrome in the past because I don't like this feature, and it looks like I'm not alone.

Most annoying of all - I can no longer search for "cache:http://somewebaddress" or search by image by pasting an image URL, as Safari interprets my 'search' as a web request.

I imagine Apple will allow a disable option in a future update, but I'm surprised so many people have just discovered this after updating. Apple has been saying for months that this will become the norm, haven't they? At least since Mountain Lion was shown as well as iOS 6. I always thought it was odd that there were two separate input bars since most people search for everything these days. I cannot remember the last time I directly inputted something into the previous bar.

please Apple, restore a separate Google search window! Or, at least, let us choose if we want it or not..

I made the switch to Apple a few months ago and love it!!! When I first started using Safari and saw the separate google search box I initially thought it was a bit superfluous, but I soon found myself using it more and more. It's such a simple yet brilliant feature which I have found to be such a timesaver. I was incredibly dismayed when I discovered that the box was missing after doing an update. It's often the small, seemingly insignificant features which can tip the balance when people decide which software to use.

This is very annoying and not how I want to work. I went in views and thete was an option to add a search field to the toolbar. Except it is broken. Doesn't work.

Wondering, if I delete Safari from Applications and then use Timemachine to restore it, will I get my old Safari back?

You can get older versions of Safari, but you need to be very careful about it. Apple are not supporting it any more, which means no security updates. So the older versions are vulnerable to viruses and attack, and will get steadily more and more vulnerable over time.

That's the worst part of this. We have no choice at all, it's simply forced on us or else.

I cannot believe this has happened, what a joke!! i cannot see any possible benefit for removing it, thanks for the heads up apple before i spent £14 updating to mountain lion.

I used to be able to type "apple" in the address bar and it would assume correctly that I want to go to www.apple.com. When I typed "apple" into the search bar it would assume correctly that I was searching for apple related stuff (not necessarily Apple the company). Now I have to enter the whole url or think "Am I searching or am I going to a url" and this is more cumbersome!

This was a dumb idea. I think what infuriates people is there isn't any way to switch back. When Apple changes something like this it causes millions of people to do extra work to figure out why things aren't working the way they used to. People use computers to get work done. A minor UI change may seem like a great idea but it impacts everyone.

On the bright side, it will help the alternate browser companies and reduce brand loyalty to Apple.

(Remember when someone at Apple thought it was a good idea to make the orientation switch on the iPad only work as a mute switch? Apple ****** a lot of users off with that one and they had to fix it)

FOR NOW I JUST WENT TO SOFTPEDIA AND DOWNLOADED GOOGLE EXT. IN ORDER TO HAVE SEPERATE BAR. WORKS WELL
