Game Center for Mountain Lion not working

I downloaded Mountain Lion today and evreything is working great except game center. When I open the app it just gives me a blank screen that I can do nothing from. If i quit out of that screen, and try to login with my apple id, nothing happens at all. I have included a screen shot of what the blank screen looks like, any help would be appreciated. Also can anyone help me with a previous question I have had from a year ago that is still not resolved.(https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3197590?start=0&tstart=0) Thanks!

I am in the same situation, resetting the PRAM didn't work, or the chess method. I don't have any other devices.

Mine was an upgrade from Lion

Other way to solve this problem, is to download Xcode from the Mac App Store, it's free.

So, when it's installed, you can enter Xcode>Preferences>Downloads and install the iOS 5.0 Simulator, it will ask the developers apple id, for me worked as well the Apple ID.

When Xcode's installed, go to the Application folder, find Xcode, right click on it and select "show content" then navigate to Contents>Applications and double click on iPhone Simulator...

With that you can run an iphone on the mac 😮! Start on it game center, use the Apple ID... and follow the steps. Then Game Center works on the mac...😝(It worked for me).

i also get the blank green screen, sometimes with a white area down the side where the scroll bar would be, sometimes not. i repaired disk permissions. nothing. i tried the chess trick. nothing (except it sometimes brings up two blank green windows instead of one. woo hoo!). i dont have an iOS device i can log in from. i upgraded from snow leopard and i don't want to do a fresh install just for this. is there any other solution for us without iOS devices?

OK, I'm new to a Mac book. I was getting along fine with Lion, simply playing chess which is all I want to do so far as games are concerned. Now, after the Mountain lion upgrade, chess has GONE from the launchpad. The Games Centre doesn't work (blank green screen etc etc). I cannot play Chess. If I try to launch it from Applications folder I just go round and round in circles with the stupid GC blank green screen.

I am just about ready to throw this slab of rubbish out of the window. Or possibly just wipe it and install Windows. I dodn't get this level of crap from Microsoft. Can anybody suggest how I can simply play Chess again, Like I used to, without signing in with an ID? I don't want to play games with my friends online. Thats infantile.

xcode was already on my system, so i didn't have to download it. but nowhere in its preferences is there a download option. i've found something that says "download the free iphone SDK," but that just brings me to a generic apple developer site. also, when i show package contents for the xcode application, there is no applications folder in there. thanks for trying, but this still doesn't work for me.

Hang on......As I said, I'm new to Mac and the wonderful world of Apple. But with all this xcode workaround, are you seriously suggesting that I, and others, jump through ten hoops dressed as a kangaroo in order to workaround a simple bug that was released in a new OS version that Apple couldn't be bothered testing?

I'm being serious now. As a new user, this whole operating system looks shabby and very flakey. It makes Microsoft looks slick and professional (which it is anyway)

What I said about the Xcode was just "scientific curiosity" (joking apart) I really understand your position, and I had put in contact with Apple Care service, so after hours of phone talk and research, they found nothing to do...

So, there's what solved my problem, the xcode, take it or not... in the next OS X update 10.8.1 I'm sure Apple will correct this bug... there's too many people with the same problem.

About the sabby and very flakey system you say... Yes, and the same thing all the other systems I had tried... We're on the Consuption Era, it's outrageous...

Other solution (if this is just because of the chess)... leave the Game Center and Chess and don't ever use them again, and download the iChess3D from the App store, for free, and I think it's nicer.

Have a good day 🙂
