Final Cut Studio on Mountain Lion?

I'm looking to get a new iMac, but I will need Final Cut Studio 2 to work on it because i'm not planning on upgrading my editing software anytime soon. Will FCS2 work in Mountian Lion?

Final Cut Pro 6, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Thanks for your help. I have installed rosetta and it went without a hitch. However I still can't install Final Cut Pro. My first program was 3.0.2, Final Cut 3 academic (and all the subsequent iterations were updates). This one rosetta will still not let me install.

However if I try to install final cut Pro 4 (update) it will allow me to begin the install, but when I click install I get the following message: "Final Cut Pro can't be installed on theis disk. You did not enter a valid registrations code"

And It's right! I was not allowed to install version 3.02 and therefore was not able to get the registration number into the computer. So what do I do???

Thanks

PS

Just tried to install DVD Studio Pro. It's the same senario..I bought 1.5 and all the subsequent updates. This time, however, rosetta lets me install 1.5. But when I go into the applications file to open it and put in the reg numbers, the circle with a line through it appears on ALL of the software icons...so NO can do....HELP!!!!!!!

All of the software you list is way too old to install on anything later than a Power PC Mac running Mac OS X 10.4. Final Cut Studio 1 (Universal Binary with FCP 5.1.4) might work. You can expect plenty of crashes though.

Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6) will work, ideally you need to find a copy of Final Cut Studio 2009 (FCP 7).

Academic copies are not upgrade-able. You must have a full retail version.

Hi all - i need help …

i have a lot of trouble with FCP7 and ML on my new MBP (9,1 - 16Gb - 500 GB) . It crashes every hour. I have made a clean ML install, after that i install QT7 and Rosetta and than a clean FCP7 install. The next four hour FCP work fine and than it crashes. It is a big Project with more than 500 GB Footage (HDV and GoPro MP4 and JPEG) A sure way to crash FCP is to import (9999) time laps Pics from my GoPro. May you have any Idea … or someone else …

Thanks …

Markus

Hi,

Iam again, i change 16GB Ram with the original 4 GB Ram … in the first moment … it looks realy good … slower but … good. And than when i will play the Sequence with my 9999 Pics in the timeline it crashes. The Final Cut Pro Task is suddenly missing in the Task Manager … no hang up red comment (no reaction… ). If anybody from Apple read this lines … I installed the CS6 Production Premium Suite it works fine. Ok lets have a deeper look on CS6 after these Project (if iam will finished the movie with a 1 hour crashing Final Cut Pro … )

Kind regards

Markus

Nick:

Are you still running Lion or have you upgraded to Mt. Lion?

Did you uninstall Rosetta from Lion after you installed FCS2?

If you did not uninstall Rosetta, have you subsequently been having problems with an upgraded version of Lion, 10.7.5?

I am hearing reports of problems from those who installed Rosetta into Lion and am attempting to get more information.

In any event, I now point people who need to install FCS2 into Lion or Mt. Lion to Jeremy Johnstones blogpost, which avoids the whole installation of Rosetta into Lion problem altogether:

There is also apparently a Pacifist solution, as well, but but this link has been broken, and I am looking for these additional instructions, as well:
