Clearing out the webex folder worked for me. I had no proxy set in Network Settings.
Having the same problem, running Lion (10.7.4 - 64 bit) and trying to use Chrome to launch Webex. I deleted the Webex folder and WebEx plugins from both Library folders and this did not fix the problem.
I did further searching and found this problem looks to be more a Java issue.
Per this link : http://java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp
Chrome does not support Java 7. Java 7 runs only on 64-bit browsers and Chrome is a 32-bit browser
Also looked at the Java System Requirements for Java 7. They show:
A 64-bit browser (Safari or Firefox, for example) is required to run Java 7 on Mac OS X. Java 7 does not support 32-bit browsers such as Chrome on the Mac platform.

Hope this info helps.
Well..... more of a problem trying to use Google Chrome's 32bit browser and the Java version needed to run WebEx on MAC Lion 64bit OS.
-- workaround use Firefox or Safari
Was having problem "attending a meeting" for WebEx and logging in to "Skype" using a mountain lion mac-mini. Initially, only the webex worked by having no proxy settings defined. It turned out that we have to define all four parameters that uses proxy settings for sock5 to work for skype. Now its working after explicitly defining all the HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and SOCKS settings. It does not work if one of the four is missing.
This is what I was looking for, much thanks on the leg work!

Dave338's solution worked for me, while others suggested didn't. It sounds like the solution may not be guaranteed or stable but I am running with it.
I run OS X Mavericks. Safari was not functioning. It seemed like there's some kind of memory leak, so I unstalled WebEx (not Java 7 Update 45) with the software at https://support.webex.com/MyAccountWeb/supportUtilities.do?root=Tools&parent=Sup port. Note that Java Scipt must be enabled to view that website.
The file I used was Cisco_WebEx_Removal_Tool.dmg [ https://support.webex.com/US/includes/documents/supportutilities/Cisco_WebEx_Rem oval_Tool.dmg ]. The tool uninstalled without any confirmation dialogue. I opened Safari > Preferences > Security > Allow Plug-Ins ON > Manage Website Settings, which showed that WebEx was no longer installed.
Good luck.
