Mjpeg stream freezes after seconds in safari 6.0

I, too, am having the same problem. Lion used to freeze after maybe 15 to 30 minutes. Now Mountain Lion freezes between 0 and 2 seconds. Frustrating.

I realized something, when I installed the Mountain Lion and experience problems with the video on browsers....I thought "Hmm what if I restarted the laptop, will it fix?"....Yep it did, believe it or not.

So try restart the computer and see if it also fix your issue.

restarting wont help in my case. having the same issue as users above, freeze after 3-5 sec.

Same here... .consistantly freezes after 5 seconds. New feature as soon as I upgraded to Mountain Lion, but I had not had a chance to test on Safari 6 under Lion, so as far as I know it could have been either upgrade.

A fix would definitely be handy when it comes to watching security cams, otherwise the burglars could be stealing everything I own and burning the house down, and I'd be staring at a nice pleasant (stale) picture of my house...

Well we must wait for a fix, Im sure Apple knows about it.

We are having the same problem.

Mountain Lion and Safari motion jpeg plays for a second or two then freezes. Tested on three brand-new out of the box Macs; two iMacs and a MacBook Pro 15".

Just to update, 10.8.2 resolves this bug.

Same here! I was sure it was a Safari bug, so I didn't even try again with 10.8.2 until I read the last few posts of this thread that said 10.8.2 fixed it. Luckily Windows boots so fast in Parallels on the Retina Mac's, that it didn't bother me too much having to launch Internet Explorer to watch mjpeg, but at least Safari is working again now 🙂

For some weird reason, it stopped working for me. It did when I made my last post yesterday, but today, I'm back to the usual black screen, the image never loads, in Safari and Chrome. Firefox works though, but so did Safari yesterday, but not today. Oh well, will just use Firefox then. Maybe it's a web-kit issue, since that's what Safari and Chrome are sharing?

This isn't just for a browner on a computer. It's broken on the iphone too !Any updates on this? I have now found since updating my iphone 5 on ios 6, to ios 9, and mjpeg stream I play from my cameras will freeze after 5 seconds! It will not work for more than a few seconds on my iphone. I've tried 3 other iphones on ios9 and same thing. And I've tried 3 additional iphones on ios 6 and the stream never freezes! What gives?

I'm facing the same on iOS 8.2 and 9 iphone and ipad respectively.

i'm streaming from a raspberry pi using motion, it works on every other device and browser except for apple devices. just a minute ago i installed firefox on my iphone hoping that will solve the issue but it didn't, firefox on iphone behaved just like safari, unlike on my laptop where firefox works just fine.

anyone any suggestions?
