Time remaining on Mountain Lion battery

On Mountain Lion, is there a way to have the menu bar show the time remaining as Lion used to? All it shows now is a battery percentage.

Just sent this feedback:

"I updated from Lion to Mountain Lion this week and have noticed that the Battery Indicator in the menu bar shows only percentages now. I have always used Time Remaining, as I want to know how long I can work on the charge. I can click on the battery indicator for time remaining, but that is hardly in line with OS X's ease of use.

16 minutes remaining tells me I will need to plug into a power source or finish my work in roughly that amount of time. A percentage will not tell me this, as battery usage is heavily dependent on what is being done.

I'm loving Mountain lion so far and this is the only negative point to date. Please fix this in time for the 10.8.1 update."

Like many others in this forum, I rely heavily on the Remaining Time estimate of battery life, despite it not always being totally accurate. It simply seems easier to use than the percentage. A quick glance every now and then tells me if something I am using eats battery faster than I expect. If I know I can not rechange, I can modify my application use. Clicking to check the time estimate is just not as handy as having a three item choice of icon, percentage or time remaining.

I have used Apple feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

All of these posts are all well and good but getting Apple to Replace something that they have removed and don't feel the user needs is next to impossible. Kind of like trying to Sun bathe in the nude in the Antarctic without freezing to death. Apple knows best what is best for Mac & "i" device users and no amount of complaining is going to change their minds. That is a proven fact over and over again with Apple.

Good Luck to all of you.

This is simply not true. Look at Contacts and Calendar that now have the group and calendars sidebar that went missing in Lion returned. Lots of folks asked for it back through official channels (http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html) and Apple responded. iMovie has also changed due to user feedback.

I am so worked up over this, and want to make it as big of a thread as possible... As everyone else is saying, 45% battery means nothing to me. I can't understand why, after years and years and years and years, they would decide it'd be a good idea to eliminate the countdown. You can, of course, click on the icon to see the time remaining, but that is so annoying and unnecessary! You messed up, Apple. I want my battery countdown back.

I think I found a great work around. I am not sure if this has already been mentioned but in the App Store there is a great battery app called "Battery Guard". I have been using this for a couple months because of issues I have been having with my battery. By Default the app it opened in the dock but in the prefs. you can change it to have it displayed in the menu bar. Within this app you can change it to both percentage or time. It seems to work for me. If you click on the icon in the menu bar it will also give you additional information like how many cycles your on and the age.

I would recommend 1 person downloading the app and see if it works for you and let the rest of us know your results. I only recommend this because I have something funky going on with my MacBook and the battery icon doesn't work as it used to so I wouldn't want to be giving bad advise to a couple thousand peeps. Below is a link to my problem if your interested.
