Time remaining on Mountain Lion battery
On Mountain Lion, is there a way to have the menu bar show the time remaining as Lion used to? All it shows now is a battery percentage.

Glad to help...I nicked it from user tonjik who mentioned the download further up in the thread:)
It was like that on the new Macbook Pro Retina models with Lion. I guess Apple has now carried it over to all Mac notebooks.
Not sure why Apple made that change, you'd have to contact Apple about that.
Actually it doesn't affect me as I use the precentage anyway. Once it get to 20% or - that slightly I recharge.
Sent feedback to Apple.
Another totally unnecessary UI change, like removing the ability to turn web sharing on and off from Sharing. Please stop ****ing with the OS -- I wish I could consider switching back to Windows or Linux, but I really cannot and just wish OS X would stop becoming an iPad with built-in keyboard and filesystem.
Maybe it's to downplay the accuracy of the time remaining; though the time is accurate *at that moment*. If they removed it because it's inaccurate, then it should be removed from the context menu too.
The time would take 10 pixels more to display than the useless percentage.
Hello all!
Here's another great app from someone with a similar problem. It looks a lot neater in comparison.

I plan on writing an app myself as well.
It was silly to remove this option.
Thanks for Battery Time App -- I'll be using this! The only, albeit seriously significant problem with these apps is that their position is not configurable and arbitrary based on load order (and random if you restart Finder) so you have to search a busy menu bar for the time rather than always knowing it will be on the right side.
jspiro, if you hold down the cmd key and drag them. you can rearrange them 🙂
EDIT: nvm that doesn't seem to work with this app D:
I cannot move Battery Time or SlimBatteryMonitor -- they always load on the far left. If I could, I wouldn't even use Apple's built-in.
You can only reposition MenuExtras: http://superuser.com/a/69843
rediculous, after so many releases and testing, how can they remove features! so stupid.
+1
Like everyone I want to make this forum popular! I even filed a complaint with apple and I think more users should! After updating my Macbook Pro from Mac OS X 10.7.4 to OS X 10.8 I found that the battery icon in the menu bar no longer showed the time remaining, but instead the batter charge percentage. The battery charge percentage is a meaningless number, as users are interested how long their computer is going to last rather than how much charge they have. I (as well as many other Apple users [from looking at Apple and 3rd party forums]) have found this move very counter intuitive to the Mountain Lion experience as now instead of simply glancing at my menu bar while I work, I must disrupt the process and click the menu bar to see how much time I had left. I hated this idea on Windows and I now hate it on Mac. Other than that I am overall quite happy with Mountain Lion, but it is a shame a small thing like this can sour my experience, and the experience of others.
I need my battery time back. Please!!
i am in too
Please add this back. A laptop is not a phone.

Good one, and I totally agree. Now all you have to do is convince Apple of that as they are going in that direction.
