Time remaining on Mountain Lion battery
On Mountain Lion, is there a way to have the menu bar show the time remaining as Lion used to? All it shows now is a battery percentage.

These forums are designed specifically so users can communicate with each other. If you want to give feedback to Apple there is a proper channel for that...

I believe this url has been posted to this thread several times.
I wonder why Apple deleted my post!!! I was praising of Apple! I've seen it all now! Sigh.
Check out this thread - this is the big thread on Battery drain - lots here. Apple looking at it. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135250?answerId=19153005022#19153005022&ac_cid=tw123456#19153005
I was on Windows for 25+ years and made the leap about 4 years ago now. First MacBook Pro was awesome. Made awesome for me as we are a Microsoft development shop so the VMWARE on Apple meant I had best of both worlds. I've learnt that the Apple is awesome, I drunk the cool-aid and continue to drink it. You won't regret it.
[removed] any negativeness [removed]
I also miss the feature. I believe it's a bug or something that hasn't been discussed by the "chief designers". They will bring it back for sure, if we all send constructive feedbacks. Just sent mine as a bug report.
No bug as if you click on the battery icon the time remaining shows up.
Apple has determined that Mac notebook users do not need to see the battery time remaining at a glance so they removed that option.
+1... This is something that needs to be added back in.
my macbook air now seems to last less long than earlier. May be that is why they changed the battery icon. If true, that is pathetic, Apple. We expect much more from you.
You mean like the time they enlarged the iPhone signal bars after admitting they were falsely reporting signal strength beforehand? 😁
"We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see."
It is ridiculous that this feature was removed. Apple, please putit back. I mean why wasit removed in the first place? Did they just forget to put it back during the "upgrade"
I have also left feedback on the Apple site. It's the only way to show that this is an improtant issue (for some uses at least).
+1
Another disgruntled MacBook owner here with a reduced battery life 😟
I have a MacBook 5.1 which is pretty standard apart from 8GB of RAM. With Lion, I would get about 4 hours on the battery. I'm now lucky to get 2 hours after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
This must be a bug.... 😟 Looking forward to the next OS X 10.8 update to fix this!
Is it just me? Cause I just received my Retina Pro and it has the time remaining? Maybe Im late to the discussion but this is definitely on my computer. No big deal to me, % is more accurate in my eyes, but I can see how the time remaining helps, for sure.
Here's a combination I'd like to see if it works for anyone else. It "seems" to have made a considerable difference to me now for about 3 days! Coincidence? Who knows?
1. Shut down, on full charge.
2. Do an SMC reset - 3 times in a row (watch the connector light flash). Wait 10 seconds between resets
3. Reboot but at the login screen, enter the password BUT BEFORE hitting the enter key, hold down the SHIFT key. This does a reboot with no start up apps.If it logs in without prompting for password, just logout and login again from the login screen.
4. Once logged in, play with the machine for 5 mins.
5. Shut down and unplug.
6. Reboot one more time with the SHIFT key held down and boot up. Do you get better battery life?
Then reboot and let everything come up normally. Any improvement? BTW _ if this DOES NOT work - the only other thing I did as well as the above was run the computer down to < 3% before doing a full recharge.
SMC on it's own has never done it before.
i find this really annoying too. i was so used to seeing "Time Remaining" that i feel lost without it. It also showed how long it would take to completely charge the battery, which i also miss. It was so useful for traveling because you could instantly see the time remaining increase as you close down some apps, reduce screen brightness, etc. And that feedback is very important when trying to squeeze as much juice as possible before recharging. Bring it back Apple.
Hi I just checked on my macbook, and it definitely has time remaining on it? Just like my older 08 unibody used to? Why is everyone saying they dont have the option for time remaining? Trying not to be annoying but am I missing something ? It sounds like I am.
