Mountain on late 2008 MacBook Pro

Yeah, I did that (8GB RAM extension), then performed the fresh install, and I still notice how Safari gets hung-up on opening web sites etc.

I'm gonna use CCC, backup my greatly-working Lion setup, and give MLion another shot. If things don't look good again, I'm gonna go back to Lion from CCC backup...

I forgot to emphasize that changing to the Hybrid Hard Drive(momentus xt) coupled with the 8GB is what made it runninglike a dream.

I had ML with 8GB but w/ stock HD and that was OK too but with the new Hard drive, it just flies. Specially after a couple of restarts.

If you do decide to change to faster hard drives (72000 RPM). Look into the Seagate Momentus XT (hybrid). pretty cheap compared to SSD's and with a big capacity(750GB). Just make sue to get the new generations. The older ones tend to be suspect.

That's the old version. New ones are the 750gb. Lots of folks have bad experience with the 500gb old version.

Some people reports the Hardrive not spinning down causing overheat.

on a side note...I don't now if Google's Chrome or Mozilla's Firefox is an option for you but I also noticed that those 2 browsers seemed to run just a tad faster than Safari.

Just got the abovementioned 750GB Seagate drive. First impression (CCC working in the background) - it's a bit more noisy than the standard HDD that came with my MBP.

Is this normal? More RPMs, more noise?
