Mountain Lion - Mission Control doesn't work after wake up out of sleep mode. How to solve that?

I use the stock screen save but still have the same issue on my iMac. I thought it was fixed with update but to no avail. I have also downloaded Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro and do not have the problem. For me, the fix on iMac is to move cursor into screen-saver mode and then press space bar. This always gets mission control back to work.

Same problem here. Mission control randomly stops working. Please do something about it Apple! The 10.8.1 update didn't fix it.

Thanks to whoever-posted-it for the Terminal solution. Works for me:

$ killall Dock

I set screen saver to "Start after: never"

No more problems. I don't need a screen saver anyway. I need mission control.

Hi everyone, I managed to resolve my issue by simply choosing the Arabesque screensaver.

I waited for the screen to be saved (1 minute), then moved the mouse to dismiss the screensaver. Mission Control was then working fine using the gestures on my Apple Multi Tounch mouse and the F3 shortcut key.

There was no need to restart Dock or anything.

Previously, I had one of the fancy screensavers activated that displayed my images from iPhoto on a moble. Neither the multi touch mose gestures, nor the F3 shortcut would activate Mission Control beforehand.

Hi everyone,

I have the same problem since updated to Moutain Lion. After waking up from Sleep mode, gestures would not work anymore (on a MB-Pro early 2011).

I found this strange solution : firing up the screen saver then dismiss it. Gestures are back to work.

I have a screen corner defined to start the screen saver, so that's easy. But still, it's anoying. I hope this bug will be fixed in a coming update.

Jean_Marie's "solution" worked for me! I have a hot corner for my screen saver. When this problem occurs, I move my mouse to that hot corner for a split second, and voila everythign is right again with mission control!

This is exactly what I've been doing since it started happeneing with me, weeks ago. It gets so annoying.

Jean-Marie's solution is a good fix for now, thanks! Apple - now that the iPhone 5 is out, you can divert a bit of resources to fixing this easily fixable issue. It is compromising the user experience. Thanks.

The "killall Dock" works fine.

Actuallly the problem is more general. I find I cannot use the trackpad to swipe between Spaces, the hot corners don't work, the keyboard function keys also don't work. If I have apps open in their own spaces, I can click on their icons on the dock and it will take me to the relevant Space.

I am trying a different screen saver to see if its a problem with a specific screen saver.

Yes, had all those same problems until I set screensaver to 'Never'

It's been several weeks now. No more problems. I really don't need a screen saver at all.

Changing my screen saver did the job. Guess some 3rd party savers don't play nice with Mountain Lion. I was using Firestorm 2. I switched to Euphoria.

For me it doesn't seem to be the screens saver. I run stock everything and the problem is after it goes into sleep mode that mission control stops working. After the screensaver everything runs normally.
