Can't select snooze time in ical events

In Lion, the notificacion of ical event give the option to snooze it in 15min, 30min, 1 hour before, etc. Now in Mountain Lion, all ical notification goes trought notification center. The thing is that now it only shows me the option "snooze" but it doesnt give an option to snooze it in "....". Any one knows a fix to this?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion

Let's all just give Apple dircet feedback, I'm not so sure they do read these forum threads. Here is the link for feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

And here's a sample text to copy and paste (from Jeremy Dodd):

The new OS is amazing. Mountain Lion is significant improvement over Snow Leopard, and it's obvious.

That said, I am missing one thing from Snow Leopoard, and that is the ability to set the snooze time on my calendar reminders.

I know I am not alone in this desire (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4141605?start=0&tstart=0).

I hope that you can not just return the variable snooze times for ical reminders, but make them better than they've ever been.

Thanks!

I was hopeing for a fix in 10.8.2 but it seems they're not so fast in Cupertino.

I can't believe this is an oversight by Apple. I think Apple have done it for a reason and suspect it has something to do with unifying Mac OS with iOS and with cloud syncing (total guess here). If something like this is true, then I suspect it will be difficult to change Apple's mind as they can be increadably stubborn, just look at the whole Adobe Flash not supported on iOS thing. A whole industry down the drain be because Apple rightly or wrongly dug their heels in.

Personally I'd prefer not to have syncing and have my snooze options back, but 2 updates later and still no fix. I think it's time to find the best alternative solution/s; I've tried Dueapp and it's not going to cut it for reasons I've already outlined in previous posts. MS Outlook is an option, but MS updates are not always cheap, so you do tie yourself into more cost. Having said that, I can't live without Word and Exel, so need to get these anyway and Outlook is bundled, although I'm still using office for Mac 2008 without any trouble. Plus there the hassle of migrating your Apple mail to Outlook. I should say that I didn't test Dueapp across devices and I think this may be the big plus about this app over Outlook. I don't think Outlook will sync across devices unless you have Exchange setup, which is another cost.

Any body found any other viable alternatives?

Yes, this came to my mind too. But anyway let's hope for the best! 10 years ago, Mac OS 10.2 was also unusable until 10.2.3 came out... 8-) And concerning versions and autosave Apple in the meantime has given us back at least some features of the past. But it took some time...

If you're looking for an alternative: BusyCal is not quite a bargain, but it's basically the old iCal, including old school reminders with various snooze times plus a few other tricks.

haha

except I can honestly say that since 'upgrading' to ML its been nothing but trouble for me.

Snow Leopard seemed to me much faster/instantaneous and less buggy. I have already spent over 2 hours on the phone to Apple Care to get several different issues resolved and some other problems remain.

I jumped ship from PCs with the understanding that having 'everything under one roof' was going to be more trouble free...😐

Well I've left them feedback a few times as well but I fear this is how it'll be stuck. At least it's "comforting" to know they also further destroyed the Reminders in OS6. I've always used MapQuest so I don't care about the issues with their maps, but these reminders I can't properly snooze and now the reminders on OS6 are a huge pain.

After months and months of waiting for Apple to fix their mistake, I've given up. I have resisted looking elsewhere for a solution for two reasons: I don't want to have to retype all of my calendar events into another application, and I liked the idea of keeping with the "Mac Experience". I've been a PC user since 1993 and the MacBook Pro I purchased in June 2011 was a big step for me, both cost and comfort wise. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed my Mac and over the last 15 months it has won me over. This reminder thing, however, has thrown me for a loop. Frankly, I do not understand Apple's position on this since, to me, one of their BIG selling points is ease-of-use and "user experience". Anyway, I think I found something that works well for me, although it will require inputting my calendar again. It is an add-on for Thunderbird called Lightning and it is similar to Outlook. Thunderbird, as you know, is an open source email client. I had to switch to it after my Mac Mail started giving me login failures with my AT&T/Yahoo account (this is another long, sad, unresolved tale). Since I'm using Thunderbird anyway, I thought I would try Lightning and so far it works well. The snooze feature allows me to select preset times or I can choose a custom snooze time. I'm keeping my iCal up to date (for now at least) just in case Apple bows to the pressure and reinstates selectable snooze times. I do not know how lightning will interact with other Apple devices, such as iPads and iPhones; I only have the one MacBook Pro at the moment so that doesn't affect me. Anyway, Lightning is FREE, which is always a plus, and it seems to do what I require. I hope this helps others out there with the same frustrations with Reminder.

You can export ics files which most calendar programs can import and export. iCal/Calendar is a pretty full-featured Calendar app so I'd think twice before moving everything over, though.

Someone mentioned BusyCal in a previous post, and that will import your iCal/Calendar stuff. Plus it can use iCloud or Google Calendar etc. so you don't have to leave whatever you're using.

But it's not free.

A quick search of the App Store shows a few more Calendars that will import from Calendar or support iCloud etc. E.g. Fantastical (https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/fantastical/id435003921?mt=12) or Calendar Plus (https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/calendar-plus/id510315016?mt=12).

Personally I'm still expecting this to get fixed, and I do like iCal/Calendar, so I'll wait a while longer!
