Major UI Lag in Logic Pro 9.1.7 on OS 10.8?

Hi,

I've just completed my first session in Logic 9.1.7 on a Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.6 after upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8. I got through it, but experienced the following new bug (as compared to running in Lion 10.7.4:

I noticed that if Logic is currently playing when I double click on a plugin in the channel strip, and then try to stop the playback (keyboard or by clicking the transport in the arrange window), I will get from a 5-45 second lag before the app responds and actually stops. No mouse or keyboard commands seem to work while it's hanging up.

Workaround: Only open plugin windows when playback is stopped, and then playing and stopping works fine (although maybe a little more laggy than in the former OS still).

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any better workaround ideas?

Ok here's what I can tell you. Logic Pro 9.1.8 is a thing of the past. If u wanna run that successfully, go back to snow leopard. If you wanna run newer operating systems then do yourself a favor and upgrade to logic 10.0.7.

I had the exact same issues you are having and logic 10 made life a lot easier for me.

Currently I can confirm that Logic 10.0.7 runs adequately under the latest version of mountain lion on a Mac Pro 2010. I haven't tried moving to mavericks just yet, simply because everything works and works in a way that doesn't irritate or distract me too much. Rule #1 with apple... If it ain't broke don't try and fix it. Cause they do that very well all by themselves if you don't diligently guard against it.

So since you now are on mavericks my advice would be to upgrade to LPX and then reasses, im confident you'll be a lot happier. Some of the other guys on here can also update you and confirm their experience with LPX under Mavericks.

All the best and good luck.

Sadly, I was.

I wasn't able to pinpoint the problem at first, thought it had something to do with memory running out. But, I think the lag is being caused by the same reason as everyone else - it's a bug that, as per usual with Apple, isn't never going to be fixed in an older software version.

This isn't really the reason I wanted to switch to LPX, but I guess I have to do that out of pure necessity. Had people over last night to record, and this really made my gear look bad.

If you're using LP9 and a newer OSX version, it seems you'll have to upgrade Logic Pro to get rid of this truly infuriating problem.
