safari on mountain lion is slow

I agree!!
Safari has become annoyingly slow at times.. I have notice that if I quit it and restart it again it seems to work fine for a while.. but when it does slow down.. whole computer slows down and its really annoying..
this needs to be fixed soon

I've been using macs since the Classic and have been a champion of them for decades. Lately I have been extremely disappointed with what you've done to probably the most important single piece of software anyone uses.... the browser. This update of Safari has to be the worst one ever, even worse than the last one which had numerous bugs from day one.

I cannot understand how the richest tech company in the world has managed to introduce such rubbish updates twice in a row.... don't the beta testers test it on more than 2 open tabs? And whoever decided getting rid of Favicons was a good idea should be removed from all future design decisions.... I mean think about it, how on earth does that make Safari better?

I know this is quite strongly worded but as a user who's probably spent the best part of 6 figures on macs over the years I feel I have the right.

I'm sure the favicon fix is pretty easy and think it would be great if you could put that out straight away rather than waiting for the slowness problem fix, too which I'm guessing would take considerably longer.

On a slight note [which doesn't bode that well] your Safari feedback page hasn't even updated it's "Which operating system are you running?" button to include OS 10.8 so I've put the latest version 10.7.x.... but this Safari 6 was on 10.8.

I am using a new model (2012) MacBook Air with 4GB Ram and have not yet updated to Mountain Lion so I am still usig Safari 5.1 - I just opened three windows and about 15 tabs, at least two with flash videos playing, and the Safari web content did not go above 600MB. I actually purchased Mountain Lion but paused the download when I Started reading reviews in the app store about it being slow, some of that seems to be with older machines that have an older processor and therefore aren't opening apps as quickly. I am not going to download ML until I know this Safari thing is resolved though becuase a lot of people are having this problem and I need my computer to act fast.

I have read a few places that people who were having lag issues were able to resolve it by resetting their PRAM/NVRAM. One place I read that was in this article - and this page will tell you how to do it. Maybe try that and let us know how it goes.

rebuilt permissions, zapped the pram.... nothing.... Safari just turns to glue after a few minutes of use if you have a few tabs open

Did you check any third party add-ins? I disabled Kapersky anti-virus and the problem went away. Really fast now.

I'll wait for an update from them before enabling.

Also, my system was just overall "slow" within a few days of updating to ML.

I did a "safe boot" and restarted and everything but safari was lightening quick again.

Everything is fast now , better than Lion, at least that's my impression..

i found the solution!!

update all the apps from app store, (iphoto, iwork, aperture, all ..) and clear from the preference system icloud all options, and then on again .. started to update, after a while a large horn rang the ma trailed off and it started ok. excuse my English!

I see i'm not the only one with this problem...wish i'd known before installing on both my imac and macbook air, both only 1 year old and ran perfectly with lion...safari is a night mare right now but the whole system just seems so slugish...can i go back to lion please!...or at least getting some idea of when there will be a fix for this would be good!

Photographer that needs some speed...can't get anything done like this, everything takes for ever or just hangs there doing nothing...sort it out apple!

It just *****, not intuitive, not mac-like, it stinks. Back to Firefox.

Firefox is running just as badly as Safari for me. Only thing I've found that to work well is Chrome. I hope they fix this soon.

this is the worst update in the history of Safari in my opinion.... from reading around the various mac sites over the years it looks like the iOS team pinched (AND KEPT) the top software engineers from all divisions and pretty much left the 'B' team in place for Safari....... and boy, does it show!

I just recently upgraded my 2010 MBP to mountian lion. Everything is faster than Lion exept safari, or any other brower. Sometimes the brower runs smoothly for about 1 min or so, then it lagggs heavily, sometime takes me 15 seconds to load this apple webpage, and ive tried clearing the PRAM, and resetting safari. Not sure if i should go back to Lion or wait for update. Btw i tested using speed test.net and got 13.6mbps on dl and 0.25mbps on upload lol

I upgraded my by 2011 MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion and now Safari hangs when loading pages. When it does load - it's slower. The odd part is I purchased two MacBook Airs for my daughters over the weekend and they are are having the same issue brand new out of the box (with Lion upgrades) which leads me to think it is has to do with wi-fi connectivity. I'm screaming "Bad-Apple"

OMG Version 6.0 (8536.25) Safari is awful..... I had to go to firefox cause of the wait period of each tab on Safari was into minutes.... not seconds like it was before the upgrade to Mountain Lion....

They need a fix fast.....

Can you explain a bit more clear how to try your solution? I have an imac and ever since I installed ML everything is going slow, I have multiple programs photoshop illustrator, sketch up running and I am going crazy here. Where do I go to update the programs since when I go to app store it says no updates are available for you, and where do I go to clear icloud stuff?
