Mouse cursor disappears.

I tried with closing flash apps/websites, restarted iMac, updated to newest flash plugin but still using for example Photoshop, afer a few minutes cursors turns invisible.
I searched in forum for OSX Lion and there this problem was mentioned several times. Does it mean that it was NOT SOLVED?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion

In Photoshop preferneces I changed my mouse from normal to precise and it works, standard works too but if I choose any of the other cursor options the problem comes back. It is only a temporary fix as I prefer the standard cursor but for now I can work without being too frustated by a disapearing cursor every 30s whilst using PS. PS is the only app I have this problem with.

Since installing Mountain Lion I have had the cursor disappear about once a day -- with no clear connection to any action. Often it disappears when the computer has gone to sleep. I rarely use Safari, so I doubt that the problem is connected to Safari. I have never had this problem on an Apple computer in the past six years of using several computers. I am currently using a Mac mini purchased about four months ago.

Since this happens about once a day, including during times when the computer is asleep, and since it never happened prior to the installation of Mountain Lion, this appears almost certainly to be a software error that Apple is either unaware of (due to their effort to shove problems into discussion groups rather than providing customer service) or that they have so far been unwilling or unable to solve (busy, no doubt, hyping another new product).

I've used Apple computers for 25 years and recommended its common stock for longer, but as hype and style replace quality and service, I'm beginning to have doubts about the company's future. Everytime I shut down and restart to get a cursor, I curse.

No, it's not that simple. All the usual tricks don't work (e.g. PRAM, fixing permissions, etc.) It's a bug. I have several computers running with Mountain Lion (new and old), all have the same problem EXCEPT one where I did a clean install and did not use Migration Assistant. All the others, where I used Migration Assistant, have that problem. Coincidence? I reinstalled all my apps. I'm thinking that there may be a conflict. Migration Assistant brings over all the old garbage system files.

I would be very interested to know if anyone here did not use Migration Assistant.

As I reported earlier on this board, I tried both wired and wireless mice and keyboards. As I survey my office, this occurs on three new Mac Mini servers which used Migration Assistant. It didn't happen on a MB Pro Retina, and older MB Pro, and a new MB Air where didn't use M.A.

It clearly happens to new and older Macs running Mountain Lion.

It's not a software issue from what I can see on this Board. It happens at different times for different users. In my case, it's upon awakening on all three mac minis regardless of the app used. Right now, the leading suspect is Migration Assistant unless some people report they're experiencing it without it.

Search for "mouse cursor disappears" in the Apple Discussions (the search automatically covers all topics, hardware and OSs) and you find that this problem has plagued Apple Computers since 2007! Let's face it folks, there is no overall solution. Its a variable bug and Apple are not taking it seriously. Let's just grit our teeth, keep going as best we can, and curse Apple if it makes us feel better.

I've owned and set up hundreds of macs since the the original classic; almost a dozen in this last year. Seems odd that I've never experienced a disappearing mouse until now. Not just once, but on three Macs in the last month. All using the same apps; all upgraded to mountain lion. And all with Migration Assistant. It's odd that the bug doesn't apply to all; so it's key to find commonality.

Have you allnused M.A?

Anyone experiencing this who didn't use Migration Assistant?

I had serious mouse dropping problems on Lion (plus lots of other persistent problems). After I had installed it (Lion) on top of Snow Leopard, my Email accounts and my User Account survived from Snow Leopard. I transferred all my pictures, music, movies, documents by manually crossing across from my backup. I re-installed applications and utilities from original discs or downloaded .dmgs.I have never used Migration Assistent, yet I had huge problems. I did an erase and install of Mountain Lion (manually setting up etc. as described above) which meant that absolutely nothing survived from Lion, not even email and the user account. I have had only insignificnt problems from then, including momentary mouse disconnections perhaps every two days - I can live with that.

I very much regret that passed to Mountain Lion as on Lion of such problem never was. I very often work in Photoshop and with transition on 10.8 work became awful as the cursor vanishes about an every minute and it is necessary to click the Photoshop that the cursor appeared on an icon. It is so impossible to work, it is very sad that the Apple can't quickly solve this problem! I very much regret that put 10.8 at once on all computers. Now I think as to reinstall back Lion
