Mouse cursor disappears.

I tried with closing flash apps/websites, restarted iMac, updated to newest flash plugin but still using for example Photoshop, afer a few minutes cursors turns invisible.
I searched in forum for OSX Lion and there this problem was mentioned several times. Does it mean that it was NOT SOLVED?

Hello,

I solved this problem temporally and I think it's not so hard to use it.

The whole problem is about switching desktop using gestures or keyboard shortcuts, not about mission control.

So I deactivate mouse / touchpad gestures and keyboard shortcats and I use Mission Control.

It's a difference and limitation but it isn't so bad. It's slower but usable.

Btw: I recorded a video with this bug.

Same problem.

Had this issue with Lion and now after 2 weeks the issue appears also in Mavericks.

Mountain Lion also. (Sigh!) If you have a Trackpad (to allow you to move the pointer), try this: open System Preferences > Mouse. Click on the button "Setup Bluetooth Mouse", then on "Done". This works for me every time. For convenience, drag the window to the edge with just the "Setup ..." button showing. When pressing "Done" the window slides back again.

User uploaded fileIf no Trackpad, some people have luck with CMND+OPTION (which hides the Dock). Do it again and the Dock re-appears, and with luck the mouse cursor also.

Sending 'feedback' is not the proper way to notify Apple about this issue, nor is posting on the forum (unless you expectation is just to see if you can find others with a workaround or to just find others with the problem 😉).

The proper route is to file a bug report. You can use an Apple ID to submit these

https://developer.apple.com/bugreporter/

I suspect that specific apps that temporarily change the cursor (for example Word often changes the cursor to a brace, as does almost any text field in a browser), causes the cursor to disappear. Changing the cursor size seems to exacerbate this problem but isn't required to cause it.

I would encourage anyone experiencing the problem to file a bug report. If you are contacted by Apple for more infomration, make an effort to provide them with what they need. All to often someone will submit a bug but never follow through with any required info to help resolve it.

Same. This is completely unacceptable. Why does Apple no longer care about the professional user? I've been using Macs since 1992. This and the "big brother" direction Apple is heading have me questioning why I continue with Apple. Microsoft / Windows is still much worse, but Apple, you're catching up. On top of this - no viable desktop machine release for 4 years? I'm not even gonna get started on the inability to downgrading to iOS5 and Apple's sorry excuse for maps. That's for another thread.

I have also been having this problem since December with a MacBook Pro. I have posted in another similar thread, and I have called Apple numerous times only to have support tell me it's 3rd party software that is causing it. Well, guess what? The system is still where the issue lies. If it is involving the Wacom tablet, Apple and Wacom really need to get their s@#$ together and figure out a solution. There are many users who use Macs for their graphics capabilities, and I'm sure many use Wacom tablets. Trackpads don't work for everything--though I know Apple would lead you to believe they do. I never had this problem in the almost 10 years I've been using OS X before Lion and see no reason why it can't be fixed. Apple, stop focusing on your toys and cater to the professional user a little. We can take care of most everything ourselves, but we can't (legally) edit your software.

I also find that the command tab solution is the quickest. Though, it is still not acceptable to have to do this repeatedly. When I have screen sharing as the last app, I accidentally command tab into that system and end up cycling through the apps that are open there, sometimes...even more frustrating. This has impeded my workflow considerably and is extremely annoying.

I suggest everybody leaves apple feedback on this:

So, remove everything that allows us to be productive on our system? Thanks for the post, but I don't see this as an acceptable fix. I think this issue started when apple changed the way their cursor is handled by introducing more trackpad functionality. I am using Lion and have this issue. Seeing that many users here have Mountain Lion with the same problem tells me that Apple just doesn't care enough.

The fact that they left this issue as is and continue to release new software versions just shows how much they care about the professional user. I guess their main user base from years ago can no longer compete with the money being pulled in from the consumer side. Apple used to be about quality. Now, it seems to be more about quantity.

I suspect Apple's change to their cursor handling no longer jives with 3rd party software. It is still on Apple to make this right by coordinating with these vendors to come to a solution. I have experienced this in and outside of Adobe software. I have experienced it using just Safari. This leads me to believe it is not an issue with Adobe specifically.

Please, everyone who is involved in this thread send it through Apple's feedback.

Wireless mouse difficulties are a long-standing problem, have been for years. All sorts of problems, all sorts of software and hardware affected. Lots of posts on it for years. Many people have sent Feedback to Apple but there seems to be no solution for many of the problems. Even my Genius Bar at the Apple Centre could not cure it. New ones keep appearing.

One problem might be the use of unstable software such as Shareware, which upsets a Mac, depending on what Operating System it has; other software; what the user is doing at a particular, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. Also, pressing the ESCAPE key helps me with one of my present problems. Also, keep your mouse batteries fresh, or charged, and/or Restart you Mac before you need to use Photoshop. Close down other applications and utilities.

My advice is just clench you teeth, curse, tear your hair out (again) and send feedback to Apple at:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

(It won't make any difference! It hasn't for years!)

However, I will try your idea of hiding the dock.

(By the way, saying "Please do something...and do it fast!" on this Discussion is no help — we are just users like you. It is Apple who should be doing something.)

Somehow we have to light a fire under Apple's ***. This can't be that difficult to fix. If they can't find the bug they can put in a check to turn on the cursor if it is disabled. It's hard to get the attention of a giant bureaucracy like Apple and obviously they are not paying attention.

How did you do that?!? First of all, it isn't for the USA. Second, at the link "If you need support for your Apple product please visit the Apple support site for assistance." Third, also at the link "Apple welcomes your feedback on its products. To comment on a particular product line, visit the Apple Product Feedback page and select the appropriate link." Obviously, your post is false.

I would agree with you except for several things.

One, it is happening on Safari and Mail as well. Second, it is happening when staring up in Safe Boot. It is also happening to people who do not have Photoshop installed on their computer.

While the could be some other culprit, it is highly unlikely that this isn't an Apple OS X issue.

This is an important statement. I urge you to send this post to Appple:
