Problem with waking up from Safe Sleep

My MBP just ran out of juice and went into safe sleep.

I connected the charger and pushed the power switch and walked away.

Suddenly the machine starts beeping and flashing its LED indicator. I look at the monitor and the progress bar for waking up is at the very last step.

I have a video of this, if only "Insert video" actually worked.. Oh, well. If anyone's interested they can download the .mp4 here.

Regards,

Henry.

I don't know if this will have a bearing to your situation, but my ML install went without hitch but whenever my system went to sleep and was awoken later, it was a bit slow to respond, sometimes virtually locked.

I discovered my problem was related to Sophos Anti Virus.

I don't know if you have this installed but the 'Shield' kept disappearing from the Toolbar when the system awoke.

I removed Sophos and performed a fresh install of Mountain Lion and so far 24 hours later, with the system going to sleep several times, it's awoken with out issue.

Turns out my problem was the Deep Sleep widget I had on my Dashboard.

I removed the widget, went into System PreferencesEnergy saver, and restored defaults on both tabs.

Then I opened a command prompt and set the hibernate mode to 3:

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3

That stands for "suspend to disk + RAM" which should be the default on MacBooks.

I rebooted, and now it can let the battery run out, and my MacBook wakes up from hibernation without issue.
