iBook Clamshell not charging battery

To me this would indicates the battery is dead and requires replacement.

Have you tried to replace the battery with a new one?

I've owned a few of this and still have one. Often or not the original battery dating back to 1999/2000 are dead. I've only ever found one with an original battery that held at least an hour worth of charge. It safe to assume that a new battery is required here. What you have on what you have described.

Extra memory and drive space will help it with performance as well. Nice little computers, I still use my Keylime!.

Have you tried resetting the PMU?

The PMU (Power Management Unit) controls the charging function and aspects of the battery's acceptance of a charge, so resetting it may help.

But Knucklesmac is probably right. A new battery is likely necessary.

If this doesn't work:

Sometimes the iBook refuses to charge, even if with a new battery.

In this case the PRAM capacitor has to be replaced.

To Dougal222 if you decide toget a new batteryconsider the NewerTech high capacity ones from OWC. I use them and the iBook G3 runs 6+ hours.
